Columbia Class of 2020 RD Thread

Do any of you know about the Columbia Advanced Studies Program?

@anotherdude no? I don’t think I was named as a scholar

Oh okay. I thought that all the LL receipients are nominated for one of the 6 named scholars :stuck_out_tongue:

@anotherdude - Do you have more info about the"6 scholars"? What are they called?

@anotherdude Were you nominated as a scholar?

My mailed letter was the exact same text as my LL email, just on a fancy thicker page. It’s just the one piece of paper inside the envelope.

I feel like you’re overthinking this :slight_smile: Just be excited you got a LL!

Lol at this point I’ve just accepted that I’m not getting into this school or any of the others I’m still waiting on

Got a likely letter too last week! Excited to meet fellow LIONS! ROAAARR!!!

I believe it is normally part of the admission letter and not given upfront. I think Columbia is providing likelies as part of the nominating process for scholars, i.e., they are picking people to be named scholars and consider them admitted and so issue LLs.

@thetsaria hahaha. that’s probably true. :smiley: But yeah, I was nominated for the egleston scholars program

@Anonymoose3 - John Jay Scholar, Egleston Scholar, CP Davis Scholar, John Kluge Scholars, Global Scholars and Science Research Fellows. I got nominated for the Egleston Scholars program

@anotherdude Wait, did you already get notification? How?

@frenchtoastlover I was nominated for egleston, but I still havent gotten the final decision yet. My email (which was a different email sent after the likely) said that they will release decisions in mid-march. So I assumed that they were sending the final decisions along with the physical copies of the likelies

@anotherdude Ahh, I see. Thank you!

Is it a bad sign if I never got a likely letter?

Seriously guys. Stop thinking about LLs. Only a small portion of admitted students get LLs.

Egleston scholars is specifically only for engineering applicants. There are more of them than the other scholar positions so they have a different selection process. The others get notified later.

That’s really helpful, @jamini - thanks!

@XoXdreamerXoX - I agree.

Has anyone who got a likely letter applied for aid?

@ms3108 Yes

@hershey2010 are you an international?

@clueless96 No, I’m from Pennsylvania
