Columbia Class of 2020 RD Thread

@jpa0115 I got a LL and I’m a dual citizen (US-Canada) living abroad, not sure if that counts.

Hey guys, haven’t posted on this thread yet but I just got a Likely Letter! Just wanted to post this in case anyone feels like giving up, because I SO did not think I was gonna get into Columbia, let alone get a likely. While I thought it was one of my best applications, I definitely do not have perfect test scores/GPA. Don’t give up!!!

@artblogger Did you receive it by postal or email? Congrats btw!!! No mater you gpa or stats I’m sure you deserve it because Columbia thought you were exceptional! :slight_smile:

@thetsaria thanks for responding, and congrats! im guessing (…hoping) that would still put you in the US student category…i’m just trying to find a glimmer of hope since Columbia is my first choice. :-S good luck to everyone!

@harvard2020babe email! I opened it in the middle of Art History and started freaking out, but I’m keeping it a secret from my friends until I hear back from the rest of my schools!!

@jpa0115 I’m a US citizen living abroad but idk if they count that as international.

@Wendelstein
“So grateful, God unfolds his plans in mysterious ways!”

Congrats! It’s good to recognize ones blessings.

Congratulations everyone! Third round of LL’s are out, then. I’m guessing this will be the last one, with two weeks remaining until decisions are released.

To address your point, @thetsaria, I think a LL is a good sign that you are competitive for other schools, but not necessarily that you will be admitted. At this level, it really is a crapshoot. No, people do not usually get notified by their interviewers ahead of time. Also, FWIW, March 15th begins the moratorium on alumni contact with applicants.

@Anonymoose3 oh, okay, thank you!

I didn’t know there was a no-contact thing for interviewers. Interesting.

What’s more, I wouldn’t expect any LL’s after today.

“From January through March 15, admissions offices may advise applicants of the probability of
admission; e.g. likely, possible, unlikely, etc.”

The implication being March 15 - the agreed upon decision date (March 31 in this case) is off limits.

same here

My son received LL today! Exciting! Not a 1st generation student, no financial aid, African American male from Missouri.

Also from Missouri! Congratulations to your S.

I’m curious - likely letters via email or mail?

@whitespace they’ve all said it was an email

I don’t think I received a LL, but I got a letter about an information session this morning. Hopefully this is good news? :slight_smile: ?

@Latios perhaps but I wouldn’t read into it. Unless it said something about your likelihood of admissions to the class then I wouldn’t think anything of it. You’ll only give yourself more anxiety. If anything it could be that your likely letter hasn’t arrived yet and the info session letter got to you faster. All the best to you :slight_smile: hope everything works out

@whitespace

Via e-mail, and then a follow up paper copy of the e-mail a few days later by post.

@artblogger Lol that must’ve been exciting.

If you ever want to see someone go 0 to a 100 real quick just watch them open up an acceptance from their first choice college.
