@allthingstesla Ugh, no kidding, I dread have to make that final decision! @Anonymoose3 Same! But did Columbia give you less FA than JHU?
@thetsaria Unfortunately, I don’t qualify for FA. So, I didn’t apply for any. However, Hopkins gave me half-off tuition through their (only) merit-based scholarship.
@Anonymoose3 Sorry if I’m prying, but I didn’t know anyone couldn’t qualify for FA? Is there an income cut off or something?
Hi! I’m a little late on this thread haha. I got a likely letter from Columbia a few weeks ago, was named a Rabi scholar, and also received my financial aid estimate a few days ago. I will be going to visit Columbia on April 10th! If anyone has any questions, I’m more than happy to answer. Congratulations to everyone who I saw on this thread who got their LL! And best wishes to everyone who is waiting for their decision! I’m currently binge watching Gossip Girl to have a glimpse of the beautiful NYC
I am an international student, last month columbia asked for my 2015 taxes. I had no interview and no likely letter. Is it a bad sign?
@nic2020 Not at all. I didn’t have an interview either (and I got an LL). Most admitted students don’t get LLs so I wouldn’t worry. And apparently Columbia gives a lot less interviews than similar Ivies.
UCLA anyone?
@thetsaria I really wanted to apply to UCLA (and probably Caltech) but my parents said it was too far away
@thetsaria Yeah I got into UCLA for Physics! Can’t wait to hear back from more universities…though things might not turn out as well as they did today…
@thetsaria I got into UCLA for biology!
@hershey2010 Aw, that’s too bad! Well, there are other great schools!
@hiddenfalls @czechivy Congrats! I got in for Astrophysics!
@thetsaria It was a hard choice between applying for Physics or Astrophysics for me…congrats! Hope you make it into Columbia and any other ivys!
@hiddenfalls Yes, I got an LL to Columbia! Very excited! Thank you, best of luck to you as well!
@thetsaria Good job! Congratulations on the LL and the acceptance! I sadly didn’t get a LL, but I’m Australian and limited by the curriculum and opportunities available here, so I didn’t expect one. I’m still hoping an admit/waitlist is possible…never lose hope!
@hiddenfalls Of course, there’s still a great chance! The majority of accepted students never receive a LL. If I may ask, where else did you apply in the US?
@thetsaria Sure, no problem! I also applied to UC Berkeley, MIT (rejected), Caltech (rejected), Princeton and Columbia. And obviously UCLA.
@hiddenfalls Aw, it’s a shame you didn’t get into those schools. But I’ve heard it’s <1% rate for internationals, that’s so difficult! I’m so nervous for Ivy Day, I applied to all the Ivy League. Best of luck for you!
@thetsaria Yeah those schools limit the # of internationals they can take, so I totally understand why I was rejected. You applied to ALL of the ivys? Wow! I wish you all the best for ivy day - I’m sure you’ll have a couple ivys to choose from at the end of the month! For now, let’s soldier on (and try not to lose our minds).
@thetsaria Yeah I applied to a crazy number of schools… (21) Whoops, lol. Good luck~
@thetsaria WOAH. I applied to 11 across 3 countries!
