Yes. At least not in LA area.
If we somehow get in we need to all come back and volunteer! Or we might just love NYC too much…
I got an interview from a junior at Columbia in January
@Deviking I had a student interview me
@alexxxcee, did Cornell give you one?
@Mysonsdad Oops! lol sorry forgot to mention I applied to 6/8 ivies ( so all except Cornell and Princeton. I have completed my interviews with: Penn, Brown, Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth , but none from Columbia)
But, I did do some research on that and I believe that Cornell only interviews Hotel admin applicants!
As far as interviews go, I know they have to be done by March 1st. For example, a Columbia alumnus called me to schedule my interview but told me that they had JUST told her last morning that they wanted to interview me. So it’s late in the game but it’s still possible to get an interview.
Does anyone think admission will look at a student’s application negatively if the student makes excuses to deny an interview, or request a reschedule multiple times?
@AngelaW98 If the student hints at low interest or flimsy excuses, that would be clearly noted (and I would suspect be a dagger to the app). Reschedules for legit reasons are just life. I wouldn’t worry about that.
Interviews aren’t that important. I had an interviewer admit that no one he has recommended in the past five years has been accepted!! Not unusual as my dad interviews for another Ivy and it is the same there.
Does Columbia send out likely letters?
Yes they have done so in the past @Ballerina016
Thank you @debate4ever Have they been sent already?
I don’t think so since nobody on cc mentioned receiving one whereas in past years students did. But I may be mistaken @Ballerina016
So is it true that some student who got 1500ish SAT score got accepted this year for ED round?!
@beaglee105 Most probably, especially since Columbia practices holistic admissions. I wanted place too much faith on getting in because of a high SAT score. They’re not that unusual.
@excanuck99, I think @beaglee105 meant a 1500 on a 2400 scale which makes the score low and proves your point
When you’ve gotten contacted for an interview with all of your college choices except for Columbia… heh… heh…
@debate4ever @Ballerina016 So I got a likely letter but thats just because im an athlete, and the date they get sent out varies, mine came back in Jan but most will be coming around now, not sure if likely letters get sent to non athletes? anyone know?
I think minorities also get likely letters @alianar
