It’s funny that most people said that people left because the program was too “intense” when I actually left because it was not intense enough. I attended Columbia for 2 full semesters and ended up transferring to Webster Conservatory. It was a total and complete waste of my time. I’ll say if you want an easy degree, work outside of school, and live in the heart of Chicago then GO to Columbia! All of my classes there were a joke, with the exception of MT dance wih Christie Kerr and MT singing with Roberta Duchak. I felt like the school cared more about the money they made from the students rather than the growth and knowledge the student was gaining. Due to the fact that there are so many students, its very hard to get into classes because they filled up so fast! A lot of my friends my year all left because they thought the program was a joke and waste of money, or to transfer to a different program. I personally wanted something smaller, more competitive, and a place where they cared and nurtured their students. As I said above, the upside was I was able to hold a part time job, live in downtown Chicago, AND do a professional show outside of school. The education was lowsy, and if you ask most chicago professional they would tell you the same thing.

Bumping Again…

This is a very interesting thread. I’m thinking about apply to CCC, but not sure if they even offer scholarship, because they don’t seem to have any type of merit criteria for admission.

My D is planning on applying here for Fall 2014. Does anyone know if they give academic scholarships?

There’s also a music business major, but it’s not a technical major: <a href=“Page Not Found - Columbia College Chicago”>Page Not Found - Columbia College Chicago;

Audio Arts and Acoustics is a very strong major there.

Hi. I am thinking of musical theater at CC. Can you explain how, if you enroll at CC, you enter the BFA in Musical Theater? If you are accepted into CC academically, are you able to complete a BFA without an audition? Thanks.
