Oops, CR-720.
I've been taking lots of practice tests to improve my CR and usually score about 750, so I've been writing 2340 on PostIts in my room since I've convinced myself that I'm gonna get a 750 next time.

RD.

SAT: 2200 (800CR, 780W, 620M) / ACT: 32 (36R, 35E, 29M, 29S)
SAT IIs: 700 US History, 760 Lit (retaking both)
GPA: 3.93 UW / 4.43 W
Rank: eh, between 2 and 4 out of almost 400
State: KS

Seaghost527, my friend, there is no reason why you should retake the SAT. Your score is fabulous as it is.

Blah.
My SAT IIs are crappy by Columbia standards (660, 690, 740), and so am trying to compensate by obtaining a 2350+ SAT I.
Hopefully SAT I scores are weighted more heavily than SAT IIs...

why don't you just retake your SAT II's then?

I probably will, in November -- Literature and Math Level 1.

I suck at Literature interpretation though, so I doubt I'd raise my score by much, if at all... And Math, I might only raise by a little bit -- My 740 is already the 95th percentile. The Math Level 1 curve is a *****.

And I won't be retaking my 690 (Biology) because I don't feel like reteaching myself 10th grade knowledge.

My SAT IIs really are my biggest worry regarding college apps, particularly Columbia ED, as Columbia is my dream school... And applicants almost always have mid-700s on all their SAT IIs. I don't even know if a 2350+ will compensate for my relatively low SAT IIs.

My school doesn't offer Honors or AP classes, which is definitely a major reason for the subpar scores, but I don't know if the schools I'm applying to will take notice/care about that.
Meh.

Hahaha...I'm probably going to apply RD but my stats are a joke compared to everyone else's.

SAT: 2000 (retaking October...hoping for 2100+)
ACT: 30 (retaking also...hoping for a higher science score...)
Rank: n/a
GPA: 3.68 uw
State: CT.

sigh I guess that's why Columbia is a super reach for me...

god are you kidding -- you guys are insane with your insane stats.
i think i'm applying...
SAT: retaking in oct --
rank: donno. top 10%?
gpa: 3.8 uw, 4.1 w
state: CA

Hey, anyone submit Part I of apps yet? That's what determines Interview priorities right?

Does it really? In that case I should probably get mine in soon.

can I still get in even if I don't get an interview?

(I can't really submit part 1 till school starts and I make sure stuff is all good with my college counselor)

Part I is just ur family information, it doesnt actually ask anything substantive.

Interviews aren't offered to everyone, and if you don't receive one, you aren't at any disadvantage.

But then again... if 65% of ppl receive interviews and the implied "advantage" (assuming it goes well), you are inherently at a disadvantage. heh.

I guess... Interviews can also destroy your chances.
I wonder what percentage of interviews go well.

Lol as a general rule of thumb. I've heard that it cant destroy you unless you go in there sporting a t-shirt with explitives written all over it, jeans with holes in them, and forget what school this interview was for. lol, that might be a little overexaggerated but yea, unless you just... bomb... it, it wont hurt you. It might not help though.

Girls who are good at math are hottt in my book.;)^^ Still, you should probably get at least one non-math teacher rec so colleges know that you're well-rounded. You know what I mean?

Thanks :). Those are only supplemental recommendations. I think I'm going to pick my French teacher for the school one.
