Columbia College Vs. Fu Foundation of Engineering

What is the difference between the Fu Foundation of Engineering and Columbia College?

CC, A&S, is difficult to get into, FU is relatively easy, since Columbia engineering lies far behind U of Michigan, Carnegie Mellon, and probably U of Maryland.

Too many commas and not enough genuine insight. Disregard.

LOLOLOLOLOL@ ww2015. good joke, naaawt. columbia engineering is amazing and very selective, so hush! anyways, fu foundation (aka SEAS) is obviously engineering, while college is more liberal artsy. both schools makes you take core curriculum classes, but SEAS students have a smaller core curriculum and have to take engineering-specific classes. if youre going into engineering, SEAS = for you. if not, apply to columbia college, where there are all the humanities majors, as well as several science majors. also, you could totally have answered this question on your own using a search engine. ><';;

SEAS is an engineering school, so students take intensive math, science, and engineering courses (in addition to electives and parts of the Core). CC is a liberal arts school where students can take classes in humanities, social sciences, natural science, math, and pretty much any typical college course. Do you want to be an engineer? If so, apply to SEAS. If not, apply to Columbia College!

Finally, the admissions rate for SEAS is a little above 10% and the average SAT score is 2060-2320 (which is higher than CC). CC has a lower admissions rate, largely because more people apply to CC. SEAS applicants tend to be self-selecting because most people are terrified of intense math and science. This includes yours truly, who has taken only humanities and social sciences courses since coming to Columbia!

yeah columbia engineering is definitely at least equally as difficult to get into as columbia college, it’s not a traditional engineering school which is why it isn’t ranked as high, but placement is strong for finance and consulting jobs, tech firms and law / medical school, all of which are probably better options than going into traditional engineering. Find out where most good MIT engineers end up, it isn’t in traditional engineering companies.

Columbia SEAS has higher SAT scores than Columbia college and higher sat scores than MIT (ranked #1). sometimes misinformed opinion miss the truth by a little, and sometimes they miss the truth by a significant margin.

If you are SEAS you need to do a community project thing. Not too sure about the details since I haven’t looked into Fu that much.

Also, if you are in Fu, you don’t need to take the swimming test. Apparently, when Columbia made that rule, the engineers petitioned and said that they could build a raft and not drown.
