Congrats!
No e-mail for me :(

Congratulations to everyone who got in!! I’m only even more nervous now since I didn’t receive anything. Ugh. Hopefully there will be good news for the rest of us in the upcoming days (i.e. between May 15 and July 1)!

I got in too! Congrats everyone who got in, and good luck to the others :)

@vikramcpo
Congrats
What time did you get the E-mail?

I got the e-mail at exactly 5pm EST

congrats vikramcpo and everyone! And hang in there Calgirl15!

Thank you projectmom1 and rwyzan! This was for Columbia College btw.

Heey guys, I’m most likely turning down my offer to go to Brown so they’ll be more space for you guys :)

To those who were accepted, congrats!!! I didn’t receive an email but I am still incredibly interested in attending columbia. How many days did they give you to respond to their offer? I’d like to know when a possible second wave of emails will be sent.

Congrats to all! The e-mail says to respond by 5/23/11 by 11:59 PM! I am super excited!

hopefully that means that I will receive something between now and the 23 haha

actually, it means you won’t hear anything until at least the 23rd, because that’s when they will finalize all the results

question for those who were accepted: What kind of applicant are you? Often schools use the waitlist to fill certain demographic needs–gender, race, major, etc. Also, any word on how many they’re taking?

I am male, South Asian, Classics/Bio and was accepted to CC of the waitlist

How many kids have been accepted so far?

wow - great job those who got in.

i was waitlisted for cc as well - in need of peoples honest opinions. my friend has been telling me to withdraw my app bc a book i listed on my app, i had not finished reading at time of application. i srsly did not think this was an issue before he mentioned it. could i get some feedback ?

@ projectmom1: Thanks! I actually just got back from visiting UC Berkeley’s campus (where I’ll be attending in case the waitlist doesn’t work out), and I’m happy to report that I LOVED it (with the exception of the south side of the city, which I thought was really run-down, and the questionable folks on Telegraph Avenue). The only problem is that since I’m not a U.S. citizen, my parents have to pay $50K a year for tuition and at least $10K more for housing and other living expenses (housing in Berkeley is NOT cheap!). In that case, I’m thinking that I might have to accelerate my degree with the help of AP credits, and try to graduate in 2 years so my parents won’t have to spend so much money. I’m actually scared at the prospect of being an 18-year-old Berkeley graduate - people will think I’m some sort of genius freak when I am nowhere near being a genius, and I don’t exactly want people to think I’m a freak either. Soooooo… yeah. I’d really like to come to Columbia because the financial aid would allow me to stay for 4 years to complete my degree. In my opinion, there’s really no point in trying to rush through college. Unfortunately, I might have to do so at Berkeley due to financial constraints :(

Your friend was just being really sarcastic. Either that or he doesn’t want you to succeed. Keep your app there.

@calgirl15
I’m so sorry about the financial aid situation! I hope it works out for the best. And I’m sure people won’t think you are a “genius freak” :).

And I agree with blanket92. That’s no reason to withdraw your app!

@ dlambi: Why are you choosing Brown over Columbia? I got into Brown as well and I’m still not sure which school I prefer. I love them both!

brown and columbia are two entirely different types of schools!
