Columbia, Dartmouth, Princeton, Yale and Stanford will confirm over the phone?

Hi all,

My friends and I were wondering about the communications from schools that have already sent out their early admissions decisions stating they would be able to confirm over the phone about a week later.

The only circumstances we could figure was for the rare applicant who doesn't have internet access/email.

Some at our little gathering are thinking of calling in case their deferral or rejection were
computer errors. The deferral kids want the rejections to call so they don't irritate admissions officers. There also is movement to get us RD'ers to do the call. I think it's a waste of time and they just need to get used to whatever they received for a decision.

I am only applying RD to anything but I don't want to call- the pressure is on and I'd like to know better reasons for not calling then I just don't want to.

Does anyone know how that works?

Have your counselors call to find out why the students were deferred or rejecte.

A computer error? lol. These people need to stop being so desperate and move on.

Makin’ a list.

Checking it twice.

Gonna find out who’s naughty and nice.

Ear-ly decisions are comin’ to towwwwwn.

I think I am goin’ with Ghostt’s message.
I will just say it nice to my dear friend crowd.

I don’t know if private school counselors are more available then public, but asking one of our counselors to call and ask would be a sure sign of a Greater Power. I feel sorry for us all- counselors and students- it’s like we’re drowning together. I am afraid that additional request would put our counselors over the edge.

I guess by April we’ll know ALL- 'cept for waitlisters!

I think you’re right.

If you must, just call. The schools get it all the time. Every year for generations nervous students call to ask about status. One call will not have any affect whatsoever on application status.

No need for call. Everyone is moving on.

Friend was hoping for an appeal but seems any school, at least private ones, are not into appeals. Can’t blame them when you think about it.

Friend isn’t certain if she or her parents are taking the rejection harder- not even a deferral. The professional consultant, the trips all over the US and Virgin Islands to beef up her resume’ and the family friend who “knows everybody” at the Ivies and Stanford- none of it made a difference. Well, maybe, maybe not, she only applied to one early after all and the others remain there for her to apply.

I am an RD’er. I frankly can’t handle bad news before Christmas so I will suffer through my applications as my price for that decision.

No consultants, trips or family friends- just me and my computer…oh, and my info, of course.

Maybe one of my hoped for schools will give me the nod.

Best to all. And to my dear friend- you are super, and there will be a school that is right for you and you for it. Keep all those grownups at bay- we will achieve!

She went to the Virgin Islands to improve her app? Really? That’s a first!
