Columbia Dual BA Program Between Columbia and Sciences Po?

I got a letter in the mail about this program, I'm wondering what this is about? I am still a high school student, but it's asking me about an undergraduate program. Why was I selected to be sent this email anyways?

If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to send us a message! We can try to set up a Skype meeting to explain the program to you.

My question is: The only top-rated Science Po, which is Scienco Po Paris, with campus located in right in the city of Paris, is NOT offered in this program, is it?

No it is not. It is offered in the north france, south france and one more place ( I can’t think off the top of my head) . I thought that very same in when I was in the information session.

Still, it sounds like an excellent opportunity.

Just to clear up the misconception - the program is offered with Sciences Po Paris, albeit at one of three satellite campuses (Reims, Le Havre, Menton). These differ from the regional IEPs (Instituts d’Etudes Politiques) in Bordeaux, Lille, etc.

According to Wikipedia, “As the satellite campuses are part of Sciences Po Paris, their official designations always include the word “Paris” in order to distinguish them from the so-called “IEP de province”. For instance, Sciences Po Paris’ Dijon campus is officially named Sciences Po Paris in Dijon:”

Students at the satellite campuses (including Dual BA students) are also guaranteed spots in Sciences Po Paris’s Master’s Program (at the main campus you referred to).

Hey! So I’m applying to this program for the 2015-2016 school year. Do you guys know much about it? Stats, what it’s like, etc.?

@ashleyckim‌ I’m contemplating applying to the Dual BA program, but I’m worried about being rejected and then not being able to apply to Columbia at all. Have you started your application? (I’m a Kim too  )

This is a very difficult program to gain admission. The program accepts, or at least did accept, approximately 35 students per year. My daugther applied for the 2012/2013 year and was wait listed. Her stats were:

ACT 36
11 APs all 5s
top 5 in her school of 700+
Numerous awards

Was accepted to Princeton, Yale, UVA and others.

Great program if you are looking for the social sciences.

Hi OP! I’m a current 2nd year at UChicago. I was accepted to the Sciences Po-Columbia program my senior year. I was also intrigued by this program so I decided to apply. This is just one person’s opinion so please do not put too much weight on it.

There were certainly positives and negatives about the program but eventually the negatives outweighed the positives.

Positives: You are SURROUNDED by international people. When I went to visit Le Havre, which was my accepted campus, I met people from so many different countries, who spoke probably about 3 languages on average. I also liked that each campus had about 200 people, which creates a close-knit community. And also, you’re in France! If you’ve been learning French at a high school level to live in France for 2 years is pretty great (this was my case.) And because of France’s central location you can basically travel anywhere in Europe, and for cheap!

Negatives: The Le Havre campus is pretty dull as it is, even though Paris is only about 2 hours away. Also I ended up choosing UChicago because of the rigor and because of its worldwide reputation. I visited a few classes at Sciences Po and the things I was doing in high school were much harder than the work at Sciences Po. I also imagined that the transition from Sciences Po after a full years, to a place like Columbia might be difficult. For me personally to really love and actually be at an institution not just physically but mentally, academically, and socially - it would take more than 2 years. For me, to have the full college experience I couldn’t be two years at one institution, then two years at another. Sciences Po is not a world-renowned school but if you plan to live in Europe at some point in your life the alumni network will really help.

I just submitted my application… I’m so excited and nervous at the same time!! this program is really my top choice and I’ve become really attached to it.
