I was rejected HAHA congrats to all the acceptance!
Hi, Columbia is my dream school since forever, I was wondering can I have your email to ask you a few questions or any platform you prefer talking on? I just want to see what to add on to have a better chance of acceptance in the future thank you @ish2001
Oof, deferred as well. Seems to be a lot of those.
Any tips for the letter update?
Does anyone know what percent of applicants gets deferred? What percent of deferred eventually gets accepted?

rejected
even tho i look like a burnt chicken nugget, i still love myself. even if columbia doesn’t
@ivypls I would, but I don’t want to give out my email on a public forum haha
And I can’t seem to private message you for some reason. If you can figure it out, send me a message
people who got accepted post your stats please?
In the deferral letter they said:“In past years, deferred Early Decision candidates have subsequently been admitted at a rate comparable to Columbia’s overall acceptance rate.”
So I guess it’s pretty low…

I think the reason I got in was I was 100% honest about who I am and didn’t brag, misrepresent, overstate, etc. I didn’t have a hook: I’m not first generation college student, not a minority, not lgbtq, absolutely zero hardships in my life. I have awesome parents who have always supported me. I do a sport that I love but am horrible at. I do volunteer work and I participate in a lot of science clubs, but I’m not a leader, I’ve never started a club. I’m an introvert who does his own thing, but I am passionate about my interests and also about my friends. I wrote about my favourite place in the whole world ( I don’t want to say - I don’t want to give too much away about who I am) and I guess they liked that.
Did any internationals get admitted early decision this year? And if so, what were your stats and nationality?
Accepted

I go to a huge public school

I’m not going to give away too too much about myself, but I think the reason I got in is because there was a sort of “golden thread” running through my application – everything was connected, leading to what I wanted to do with my life at Columbia and beyond. I had two main extracurriculars that I excelled at (one is a performing art and the other is research) – got thousands of dollars in grants to further my study in the activity, performed for prime ministers and delegates at an international conference, several national scholarships, performances abroad, and earned millions of views on videos posted online. I also used my art form to spread awareness about social issues such as mental health and alcoholism, which connected directly to my independent research on the under diagnosis of clinical depression in third world countries. To further show my passion for the subject, I organized a nationally recognized conference where I invited speakers to talk about innovation in the field, which was well received. Over the summers, I interned at neuroscience labs, volunteered a ton in the psychiatry department at my local hospital, and traveled abroad to perform and research.
Honestly, I had a B on my transcript. I’m a good student, but my grades were not spectacular by any means. This just goes to show that if you do what you love and do it well, Columbia will appreciate that.
Good luck to everyone applying RD!!
Guys I want to wait until this morning to check my ED result, so yup I am going to open it during my homework period, 30 minutes from now. No matter what the result is, I will love this world and keep chasing my dream. I wish all of you guys good luck, either in Columbia or in other awesome schools that you might find even better! Always remember we are more than just numbers and a list of activities! We are uniquely precious! We are loved!
People who’ve gotten their decision, post here on the results thread (if you feel like it lol):

deferred
I got rejected yesterday and today I got my new SAT score which went up 70 points and I know there were a lot more things that probably went into their decision to reject me but it still makes me super regretful
Accepted! Congrats to all!
Congratulations @sapphoes !
I know it’s like 2 months (nearly), but I hope to welcome you guys to Columbia. All the best,
