shooooot me I have a band concert starting at 8 eastern and if I open it before the concert I’m probably not gonna want to go to the concert (whether I make it in or not lol) but I also can’t wait 3 hours to open it and I’m gonna die
You should have gotten an email. I have a concert that night too at 7 EST so I’m definitely opening after it’s over
Thanks - yup - was in spam. Fixed that!
Yes, the legacy acceptance rate is very low compared to other Ives. Sixty-five members of the Columbia College Class of 2021 and four members of the Columbia Engineering Class of 2021 are sons or daughters of College alumni.
Around. The legacy acceptance rate is around 6% for CC, and 1% for Engineering.

Dentist appointment at 6:30 PM. Hear back from Columbia at 7 PM. This is probably going to be the worst day of my life
@CMMC2023, we can’t tell what the acceptance rate is of legacies as we don’t know from those numbers how many applied. Perhaps only 100 legacies applied - who knows? However, I venture to guess that the acceptance rate is still far lower than the other Ivies given those low numbers. It’s just that approximately 6% of the entering classes of CC and 1% of Engineering are made up of legacies.
I’m going to be in first period (physics ugh) I hope I don’t freak lolllll
@Lionmom2023 That’s true. Comparing with other Ives, ( 20% of legacy in Harvard, 15% of legacy in Princeton, and 25% of legacy in UPenn ,) 6% is quite low. But the data is only from CC alumni, and not including Engineering alumni. That’s is consistent with Columbia’s policy posted on their website. Legacy status only has “slightly” advantage. For Columbia Engineering, the size was around 200 students 20 years ago, and now is around 400 students. So these Alumni from Engineering school are also little. I think that’s the reason why Engineering school doesn’t provide legacy enrollment information.
@magiclary It’s 7 PM, so you’re good for Physics.
@magiclary Do you live in Asia?
The results come out half way through my December Assessment Week. I’ll be so depressed for the rest of the week and screw up even worse!
Omg my school’s winter concert is also at 7p.m. Thursday. I’ve decided to check on Friday during the day at school… and I will record a reaction video!
I just created an account for this. Gosh I’m so nervous.
How many ED applications were there last year and what percentage got accepted?
For the Class of 2022, there were 4085 applicants for Early Decision, and 650 were accepted, so that gives a percentage of around 15.9%.
@HopefulLion2023, that 650 accepted figure is just an estimate based on previous years as Columbia has stopped reporting ED acceptance rates.
ahhh so nervous
FUN SURVEY: How will you find out on Thursday (e.g. by yourself, with your family video-taping your reaction etc.) and who will be the first people you tell?
I’ll definitely be by myself, it’ll be after my concert and I’m recording my reaction. Deleting immediately if it’s a rejection haha
