I was accepted but i’m really confused as to why??? My SAT scores are good i guess but I haven’t really accomplished any major projects in the past 4 years… honestly i always thought i was really mediocre and i’m not at the top of my class so uh i’m a little confused and i hope this is not a mistake

@angelaxia

Roughly what did you write your essays about?

Like I feel the same way (good SATs, decent academics) but my essays were really nothing special or quirky and I’m confused as to why I was accepted.

I bet you deserved your acceptance though!

@lizlemon666

hey newly admitted '18ers/newly bitter people who will be '18ers at another school because admissions is a crapshoot, I’m an editor over at Bwog, Columbia’s main campus gossip/news/procrastination tool. because we’re sick of hearing about how the model CU student is taking 7 classes, curing cancer, and eating three square meals a day plus sleeping eight hours a night, we at Bwog have taken it upon ourselves to present a slightly…different view on the typical day. By asking our staff. we’re putting a new staffer’s schedule up each day, so check it out while you’re procrastinating on finals/still super excited about everything Columbia. here’s the first one: [Day In The Life: First Year With A Job! | Bwog](Day In The Life: First Year With A Job! - Bwog)

@itdoesdeath - Thank you for that! Its a much needed dose of reality

@reeeee - I wrote about the community garden I had founded and Jack Kerouac’s ‘On the Road’ for the two prompt based questions. My list of publications and cultural events was very eclectic and gave off a sense of my personality. I had fun with it, and wasn’t afraid to make jokes or pop culture puns, and I guess they liked that! I made it very obvious that Columbia and I were meant to be, and I wasn’t afraid to show a playful side along with the serious, uber intense student :)

Deferred !! Ahh I’m hoping in march that I’m getting accepted!! #sigh

36 ACT accepted!! holy **** this is unreal

Accepted. Could not be more grateful.

Accepted! I’m thrilled man. I wish there was a facebook group or something so people could get talking or whatever.

Deferred and ecstatic! 2240 SAT (680-CR, 800-MATH, 760 WR), 690 Latin, and 730 Chem. I know. I don’t know how I was not rejected.

To those accepted, congratulations! I bet you deserved it and I am genuinely happy for you even though we’ve never met.

To those deferred, you should be proud because I know that Columbia rejects 60% of their ED applicants, accept 20%, and defer 20%. You were in that 20%! That’s freaking awesome! Be proud.

To those rejected, again, Columbia rejected 60%! That A LOT of qualified applicants. There are so many other great schools out there for you.

Good luck to everyone!

Those accepted. The welcome site is working now!

@Gelila11 There is a FB group for admitted students, check for a link on the welcome site

Lol thanks @ambirkel
This FB group is pretty good for getting advice from current students, but not so great about getting us all to get to know eachother.

Hi everyone!

Congratulations to all of you who have been accepted to Columbia ED. I was wondering if any of you are one of the four named scholars at Columbia. If so, did you receive the notification that you’re a scholar only online or by mail? Do ED applicants get considered for named scholarships at all?

Thanks!
