<p>Hello, I am very interested in Columbia and plan to apply ED. I'd like to know my chances. Thank you in advance!</p>

Race: Asian-American

Income: ~150k
Major: Computer Science</p>

<p>Scores:
GPA: 3.9 (UW) / 4.3 (W)
Rank: In a very competitive private school. School doesn't publish ranking, but I'm probably only top 15%
SAT: 2340 (800 W, 790 CR, 750 M) in one sitting
SAT 2: 800 M, 780 USH, taking Chem in Oct. (expecting 750-780 range)
AP: 4s in World History, CS, Latin; 5s in US History, Macro econ, Micro econ, Calc AB</p>

Journalism</p>

<p>ECs:
1) Journalism: Editor-in-Chief of high-school newspaper, Managing Editor jr. year, News Editor soph. year (Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Crown winner)
2) Academic Team: President of club. We participate in trivia competitions throughout Pennsylvania
3) Problem Solving Club: President of club. We participate in Future Problem Solving competitions. Have won 1st in state a couple times, won 1st internationally last year
4) Volunteer: Founded organization that distributes Braille newsletters for blind to read (150+ hours)
5) Summer internships:
a. after fr. year: worked as a data analytics intern at local start-up
b. after soph. year and after jr. year: worked at CMU, under a CS/Engineering Professor in data analytics and statistical modeling
6) Engineering Team:
a. was Secretary soph. year
b. our team won $10,000 grant from MIT
c. did not participate jr. or sr. year
6) Member of National Honor Society, National Latin Honor Society, Quill & Scroll Honor Society (journalism)
7) Sports: played JV Tennis fr. year
8) Demonstrated Interest: Visited Columbia 3 times (twice in the last year) and attended Science Invitational recently</p>

<p>Hi, I think you are a high match to Columbia. Your test scores and EC’s are very solid, but they seem to focus around newspaper/journalism, which doesn’t match your major interest. Also, I believe all Ivy leagues don’t care about demonstrated interest (correct me if I’m wrong). HAHA I think we’ll be going against each other come November so good luck!</p>

<p>I think you’ll do fine in applying to Columbia. The only part I would worried about is the high income and private schooling. Standards are higher when you take part in either (or both) of those things.</p>
