<p>I applied Early decision to Columbia about three weeks ago. Let me preface this by saying that I personally just sent an application expecting nothing more than a rejection letter but I put just as much, or more effort into this application than any of the other schools I have or will have applied to.</p>
<p>applying to columbia college not engineering.</p>
<p>Anyways, here are my stats:</p>
<p>GPA: 3.8 (not sure exactly as we have gotten our last report 4 weeks ago but i have all A's so it can only have increased or possibly stayed the same)</p>

<p>President of the school music club. I lecture about individual genres and decades of music and share music with club members. I also am planning a battle of the bands for school musicians.</p>
<p>Been an officer of the school music club since freshman year until this year</p>
<p>In a band with two friends. Record every week and have been looking for shows (played first show last week). I play guitar, sing, play bass, keyboard and am teaching myself to play the drums.</p>
<p>Volunteered with my school volunteer group last year for a total of 40 hours</p>
<p>Job:</p>
<p>I build guitar effects pedals (electronic circuits that affect electric instrument signals) and sell them to friends.</p>
<p>Essay: Not a Miss America answer. Wrote about Christopher Hitchens and how he made me more interested in discussions about religion and politics.</p>
<p>ALSO, I had an interview with an alumni last night who was very helpful. He seemed sincere and also was impressed by my musical interests and seemed to agree that I was interested in columbia for the right reasons.</p>
