So thanks again for reading this, and please post your opinions!

And I’ll definitely chance back!

Have you not taken many honors courses? There’s not such a big difference between your UW and W… usually columbia applicants with a 3.98 UW will have somewhere between a 4.5 and 4.6

Anyway, it seems like you have a pretty good shot!

The thing is my school is really small; the last graduating senior class is about 100 people. The school only offers 3 or 4 honors. I didn’t have any honors until the junior year, but I took all possible APs instead. Plus, our honors count the same as regular classes :)

My interviewer is from Hawaii too, and she told me only 6 Hawaii kids went to Columbia last year.

Low reach

Not trying to count your chickens before they’ve hatched, but I’d be surprised if you didn’t get in

Congrats on the amazing stats!

Columbia is a crap shoot for anyone.

Essay will be a significant factor in whether you will be admitted.

MidReach

Chance me http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1585363-11-days-until-johns-hopkins-ed-results-chance-me-chance-back.html#post16643155

Additions: the interview is via skype with a Columbia senior who is also from Hawaii. It lasted about 40 mins; I felt it went pretty well.

Thanks for the opinions! I feel very confident about my main essay and supplements.

I’ve chanced back.

anymore opinions? :)

Ahh applicants like you make me nervous. Columbia is a crapshoot for everyone, but your app seems very strong indeed. I’d say you’re up there with the best of them. Good Luck!

PS: Chance me back please http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1572592-columbia-ed-top-state-schools-ea-chance-international.html

haha thnx and I saw you a lot in the Columbia forum too. I’ve chanced back!

Much appreciated. Cheers!

bump bump…

any more comments guys?

Low reach.
Scores, ECs, and awards all top notch. It’s just that Columbia is an Ivy, and the strength of the applicant pool is such that many applicants are Valedictorians and have SAT scores in excess of 2250. Also, I don’t think applying from an under-represented state counts as a hook.

I think you definitely have the stats to get in, but like a lot of people before me have said, Columbia and other top-tier schools always have a bit of luck involved as well.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1586715-16th-coming-up-what-my-chances-cornell-s-ed-will-chance-back.html

I’d say mid reach, maybe low reach. Essays are VERY important! Best of luck!

thnx guys! I’ve all chanced back.
