Columbia ED

<p>Basically come down to three schools, wanting my chances on all three (Columbia, Dartmouth, Stanford)
Columbia ED Chances, please!</p>

<p>GPA: 3.663 after Jr. year, 3.75 after Sr. Year (Unweighted, school weighs horribly, increasing my GPA by .1, but the transcript will show my actual grades..)</p>

<p>Soph-Sr: 3.93, Soph-Jr(3.9)</p>

<p>Region: Large school in Mid-West, sends about two people to an ivy each year</p>

<p>Courseload: 10 AP's, all A's (the most anyone can take is 13 I believe, no one in my grade has done that, highest is 11)</p>

<p>Rank: 5% of my class</p>

<p>SAT- 2300
ACT- 35</p>

<p>AP Tests-

<p>Awards:

TASP, Debate Camp, Spanish at a local University, National Debate Qualifier(top 50)</p>

<p>EC's:
-Speech and Debate for 3 years - Captain
-Community Service Club for two years - Vice President
-Creater of Math Honors Society at my school, president for one year, going onto my 2nd
-150 hours of community service
-100 hours of volunteering
-Tutored elementary school children for one year(only time our HS allows it to happen)
-Play Tennis for my school, Varsity this year, JV Last yr (2 yr total)</p>

<p>Reccomendations:
-One math teacher, One science teacher, and a close friend of my family who is a Professor at a local University</p>

<p>Essays:
-Hopefully, I'll do my best, I think they will be good though</p>

<p>Sounds like a fairly good profile. Be extra careful with your essay. Come up with 10 topics, ask people what they think, choose 3, and write them, see how they turn out and send the one you think works best. But 1) avoid cliches, 2) Stick to a positive tone, and 3) Try to have it illustrate your character, personality, inner thinking, or something extraordinary about your experiences.</p>

<p>Your resume sounds like a standard "shake and bake" ivy applicant. Make sure that you write about something truly unique in your essays; you have to remember that the admissions officers at Columbia read applications as spectacular as this every day.</p>

<p>P.S. Try to emphasis any leadership in your ECs. Great SATs and ACTs, goodluck.</p>
