Columbia engineering school cares less about low SAT verbal?

I have ADD and OCD and it hurt my critical reading and writing SAT scores. I talked to my interviewer about this exact subject and he said that the SEAS is looking for an applicant with strong math, science, and problem solving skills. He also said that any weakness in the areas I had shouldn't hurt my chances much. I'm not worried about it because they have a section on their website which states how they review your application. They understand your weaknesses by looking at your grades in school, then they compare them to your SAT scores and figure out if it is acceptable.
A kid in my school got in to MIT RD this year with a 580 SAT CR. It's not all colleges look at so don't worry.
