Hey everyone, so I want to study finance and math/computer science in college and so I think Columbia’s financial engineering program would be perfect for me but I am a little worried about the required physics and chemistry classes. Does anyone know how hard they are to get through if you aren’t a physics or chem person? I want to know because if they are extremely difficult I might just consider majoring in economics in the college instead.
They are similar to AP Physics C and AP Chem if you have taken either of those. Just more content and they always ask the hardest questions for homework/tests where HS teachers probably assigned the easiest. They offer 3 levels and you can take the easiest. It really depends though if you go with Econ you have a bunch more requirements for the Core that may or may not appeal to you plus you would still have to take science just more choices. From what I have seen of job recruitment on campus the financial engineers are in more demand than the econ majors.
