Does anyone know the usual stats for applicants accepted in the School of General Studies? I am still dumbfounded by my acceptance (If I mention my stats, some ivy league hopefuls may cry).

GS is really easy to get into, I have friends who literally had Cs and Ds at other colleges and got in as transfers. It cant be compared to the Ivy League schools, GS is an entirely different animal. It can be compared to Penn GS, Harvard Extension School.

you take the same classes as columbia college kids...same degree for gs. but extension school is different

If you don't mind sharing, what are your stats? I'm looking at GS myself.

You dont get the same degree...your degree says "Columbia University - College of General Studies."

i'm interested in doing pre-med at Columbia - mjaoring in bio or chem..
I apply to college of general studies then riight?

are you in high school?

slipper

i dont know who is your friend but the degree of getting acceptance is sometimes base off how many people applied

not that many people know about GS in the past therefore acceptance rate should be higher..

ive seen the statistic somewhere that 2002 was like 45% and 2004 dropped down to 23%

for GS

and i know someone applied last year with GPA of 3.7 from community college got denied...

maybe your friend wrote a hell of a essay...

say im son of Bill Clinton, i dont need straight As to get into Havard

in addition, both GS or CC student have to declare major at the department

the department gives the major
department itself generally dont have much to do with either college nor the instructor know that which school you are from
