Columbia GS, BA with Science Po France - Fall 2011

Any other admits going to the admitted students event at columbia on the 16th?!

I was going to go…But I’m choosing Brown over the program (trust me, it was a hard decision) :/

Hi Cocteau twin – what do you ‘really’ think of your experience – I was invited to apply, I am US born/in HS and also French. My HS counselor is raising flags saying this is “only” the GS side of Columbia, plus my own issue is that the classes are actually taught in English, I suspect with various degrees of fluency. What do you think? What do you hope to do with both degrees? Thank you!!

Hi randompiglet – why was it a hard decision, precisely? Brown is fabulous, but why did you end up giving up the European experience?

Hello Cocteautwin! Seriously thinking of applying; my “issue” is that I am of French heritage and have family in France; I am concerned about being on the campus in Reims with classes in ‘English’ with, I would imagine, varying degrees of proficiency among teachers. I’d be interested in the Paris campus, although I am quite aware of how tough this is in terms of competition, too. What are your thoughts, being there? Are you still happy you made that choice, or in retrospect, do you feel it might have been better sticking to a traditional American collegiate experience ? Thanks!!

Hi randompiglet,
I’m interested in the dual program between Columbia and Science Po too. I’ll apply to this next year and I’m really eager to learn about your experience during the application process. I hope you would share it with us.
Btw, I’m not a US citizen or French citizen also; I’m really confused whether I have to take the SAT and TCF or not. Can you help me please?
I’m really eager to absorb any information about this program.

Hey HSBCanadian and randompiglet,

I’m a Canadian too and I’m interested in applying for this program this fall for 2012 admission.

what were your grades, extracurriculars, etc. like?

I would really like to get into this program and any tips would be great!

sorry guys I haven’t been on CC for awhile…
um, I chose Brown because I really liked the campus and its econ/business/IR program. And I planned on being in a sorority and Brown was the perfect fit. I absolutely loved Columbia when I visited, but I wanted a more “traditional” college experience.

I was my school’s vale/salutatorian, but my senior year wasn’t that great. I was still one of the top students but I wasn’t so concerned with my grades and stuff…I had a 4.0 (94%) gpa.
for extracurriculars, I did stuff that’s somewhat related to my prospective major…well, except for bartending and event planning lol
I think my resume and two essays I wrote helped a lot. Focus on those and SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!

If you have any questions, feel free to pm.

Hi there, I was interested in this dual BA too but I’ve just noticed they’ve opened a new dual BA with UCL: [UCL ESPS Dual Degree Prospective Students](<a href=“UCL European & International Social & Political Studies | UCL European & International Social & Political Studies - UCL – University College London”>UCL European & International Social & Political Studies | UCL European & International Social & Political Studies - UCL – University College London)
I’m thinking of applying there now since it’ll be much cheaper to study in the UK.
Anyone else interested?

Is there anyone here who is in the dual program? I have some questions about the financial aid for Science Po and Columbia. (I have contact the Adcom but they don’t answer - I’m quite confused) Do both of these institution offer financial aid for international students (because I see on Science Po page and it says no Emile Boutmy Scholarship for dual degree program)? How could I apply for the financial aid at both schools?
Thank you in advance.
