Columbia GS Fall 2018 Early/Regular Decision

https://gs.columbia.edu/important-dates

Looks like you will receive your decision by June 1st.

@GoldenState1 thanks but didnt you get accepted on 3/1? I would have to double check with my rep, she told I am still early decision and would be notified by 5/1.

@krh6321 just saw your post. I see. there does seem to be some conflicting info. like i posted to above. ill ask again to make sure. a rep will come to my cc next week.

@Cj95zz I haven’t seen a decision yet… I was hoping I would find out by now since they review applications on a rolling basis but not in a crazy rush as I’m still waiting to hear back from other schools I applied to as well.

@GoldenState1 same here. I’m also applying out of Cali. But out of all the schools I could possibly get into I would prefer GS, miss living in NYC. Good luck with UC apps (first ones should get back to us this coming week).

@Cj95zz nice! The only thing that would hold me back from attending GS if I were to be admitted is the cost!

I found out from U.C. Santa Cruz that I was accepted two days ago

did you receive your decision from gs yet?

@GoldenState1 congrats on that. OK talked to their rep today. She said the 1/15 deadline was a “priority” early decision so they were much stricter on the supp info. I will get my decision by 5/1 or earlier since its rolling. You and I will be in the same pool. She didn’t give me any info on whether your or my app would be read first since you’ve been pushed back but still applied first. Chance is you may get it even earlier.

Sweet. Thanks for the information. I’ve been refreshing my email like 20x/day waiting for my decision. The wait is killling me.

@Cj95zz I’m from Cali too and I’m waiting for decisions of UCs too. Are you going to visit NY for the orientation?

@WildFox Hi there! UCSB has given me an offer yesterday, so check your portal if you applied for that school. Other schools will reach out in April (late April for UCB and UCLA).
If we are talking about the same orientation (after decision and accepting), my rep said I’d have to go. The semester starts after labor day (or around that week in SEP). The orientation is one week before that. Her recommended time frame is to come either in the first or second week of AUG, just to settle in.

BTW if you don’t mind telling me, which school are you applying from. I am assuming you are also a CC student. The other Columbia transfer thread are mostly 4 year students.

Hi everyone, I submitted my application on 3/1 but I was trying to fine tune my essay so I held on to it until the 3/20 which was the deadline for supplemental documents. I am wondering if I would still receive my decision by 5/1 or later? My application status is still showing “submitted” under status when I check, not sure if that’s normal or not. Thank you and good luck to you all.

I submitted the final documents that I was missing on 1/26 (11 days after the priority early action deadline for a March 1st decision) and still haven’t received my decision. I’m assuming I will be getting my decision with everyone else on May 1st. I don’t see any supplemental decision dates on their website, assuming you are correct you should also receive your decision May 1st. Whenever in doubt, probably a good idea to contact them directly.

Thanks for your reply, I didn’t see any date for supplemental documents on their website either but I received an email from the dean, couple days before the submission deadline to invite applicants to submit their application. In the email, it was stated that the deadline for supplemental documents was on 3/20. Yea, that’s a good idea, I should probably contact the admission office directly. Thank you!!

@Dennis1024 “supplemental documents” refer to any additional docs the school asks you for after you’ve applied (i.e. school transcripts), not the essay itself. The essay is part of the application itself and was due 3/1 in order to count as part of the second batch of Early Decision applications whose acceptance/denial will be revealed on 5/1. Because you didn’t submit everything by the 3/1 deadline, you are counted as a Regular Decision applicant and will receive a response around 6/1.

@Dennis1024 by school transcripts, I meant this current semester’s in the case you were enrolled in another program right now. Previous semester’s transcripts would be part of the original app

I found out I got in last week! After aiming for the 3/1 Early Decision deadline, I was so angry when last Monday I found out my school never sent out my transcript! Luckily the GS admissions office told me to upload my unofficial transcript and the next day I got my acceptance  I was expecting to have to wait a lot longer, but that goes to show that it truly is on a rolling basis.

@GellerGreenBuffey when did you apply? I’m still waiting on my decision :frowning:

I’m still waiting to hear back too! I applied by the 3/1 deadline as well.
