I highly recommend using the Leadership Scholar Program to help you with applications if you are in the Marine Corps. If you are in another branch, I recommend using the Service2School program. Also, look into the Warrior Scholar Project and see if it is something you would be interested in attending. I attended WSP at the University of Southern California, but it is hosted at a number of elite schools and looks great on applications.

I failed out of a four-year school. I got a job working for the state in maintenance; I realized I didn’t want to be doing that type of work forever. So I went back to school. (there was no year + gap, so giving hope to anyone in the same situation as me) I worked full-time and went to school full-time. Eventually my CFO noticed my hard work and offered me a job working in finance.

One thing I really focused on was how it took me until after I failed out to realize the value of education.

Tip for those applying after me: I think they want you to focus on how you came to value education. Many stories on their website and mail involve people explaining how they came to value education. But that’s just an observation of mine and I could be way off base.

About red x’s: I didn’t see any until after I was accepted. They make you upload satisfactory spring grades.

Edit: About interviews: I didn’t get an interview but I did get an email this week asking for some clarification about some things in my application.

Also didn’t get a phone call telling me I was accepted.

@03obvious Good to see a fellow North Carolinian accepted.

Hello everyone. I made an account just to say I got accepted and hopefully connect with some of you starting with me in the fall! I originally got accepted for spring 2019 but I needed to defer and I just found out a few days ago that I was accepted again for Fall.

I was just honest about coming from a very poor, underprivileged family and how despite that I’ve always loved learning.

Hi everyone. I applied by the second wave of early action on 3/1. I am a Japanese international student hoping to get in for the upcoming semester. What are my chances of getting in?

App Type: Transfer student
College/ Country: From top 20 private American university (undergraduate BBA)
College GPA: 3.6
HS GPA: About 92%, Canadian high school and they go by percentage
Testing: SAT 2140
ECs: Running small business, intern at democratic party government office, intern at M&A advisory firm, vice president of bodybuilding organization at school and a few more school activities. Took a gap year to start my business in the realms of women empowerment and fitness, and plan to expand in the States.

@11070913 You look like a shoo-in to me.

Anyone got tips for writing the 1500-word essay? What makes an essay “good”?

Also, it also advisable to get an LOR from the Dean? I’ll be getting one from my Economics professor and the other one should have been from my Marketing prof but she’s not replying.

Hi everyone! I’m surprised this thread isn’t more active; I’m just popping in to share my stats and wish good luck to everyone else who applied Early Action! Here’s hoping we all get accepted!

App type: Transfer student
College/Country: 1 year at a large state university in California, after which I left and took 2 years off from school to work, followed by a year of coursework at a CC also in California
College GPA: First-year undergrad GPA (from 4 years ago) 2.92, post-hiatus GPA 3.9
HS GPA: 3.4
Testing: ACT 31 (taken in 2013)
ECs: Two years of full-time work in specialty food service between my first and second year of undergrad, currently a part-time nanny in addition to attending classes, staff experience working as on a high-level national political campaign, volunteer and organizer with a couple different environmental/social justice groups, multiple volunteer positions on a few state/local campaigns.

Again, good luck to everyone and I can’t wait to find out the admissions decisions in a couple of months!

Hi guys! I’ve been lurking on this thread for a while and I finally decided to create a account because I have a question that I want to ask. I’ve been doing research from previous threads but I never found a clear-cut answer.

I hope this question doesn’t offend anybody as it has to do with those who were unfortunately rejected, but apart from the rejection letter that is mailed to one’s house, how does one know if they were rejected by GS? Does it show up in the application portal? Does somebody from the admissions office call them?

Any answers would be really appreciated!

Hi everyone! I appled for Early Action! before March 1st, I will know the answer by May 1st hoping we all get accepted! Do you know when the committee will discuss our applications?

Not sure when they actually discuss the applications, but March 20th is the deadline for supplemental materials. Maybe after that? After looking at previous years’ threads, some people find out their acceptance in mid-April.

Anyone know if it’s possible to change recommender after submitting the application? It’s been a month and one of my profs still hasn’t gotten back to me yet.

@aogiri you should see an option at the bottom of the portal to send reminders, I believe that you can also change who the recommender is from there.

@jasennian Awesome. Thank you

Admissions office said decisions will be sent by April 1st. This has been the longest couple weeks haha.

@Advxntageous they told you April 1st?

I think April 1st is for Sciences Po entry.

It may be. I was surprised as well. I was told BY April 1st the decisions will be sent. Could be a mistake though.

I hope it’s April 1st haha.
