Columbia GS Fall 2019 Early/Regular Decision Thread

I think both of my recomenders forgot about me. It’s already April and none of the professors I’ve asked has gotten back to me. I was able to replace one and I’m thinking of replacing the other as well. I’ll send a reminder just in case but it’s been too long and I’m getting worried.

Would you guys recommend a work supervisor to do one or should it be strictly college professors?

@aogiri Both of my recs were professional; one was my supervisor and one was my CFO. I was worried about it but in the end I was still admitted.

Hey! For those already admitted (or those who know), do you have to send midterm reports after being admitted? Or do they just ask for the official transcripts?

@Advxntageous For early action (March 1) and no timeline in particular. All I heard was that results will be out by May 1. :slight_smile:

@nrivera12 after admittance they add “official final transcripts” to the missing credentials list on the app portal. I haven’t heard about sending in midterm reports.

@nrivera12 My page has a red x by “Official ___ Transcript with Satisfactory Spring 2019 Grades” so I think that means just sending in your final grades. My community college doesn’t post midterm grades on transcripts so I’m only going to send in the final transcript at the end of the semester.

Did anyone else have to wait a long time for materials received to update on their portal? My high school claims to have sent my transcript 2 weeks ago and Columbia still doesn’t have it. The schools are within 30 blocks of each other, how long could it possibly take, lol. It’s my only missing material for my application to go under review so I’m anxious.

@mamabear336 I would give them a call or an email to see if they got it. I think they sometimes don’t update the portal after they get it on accident, but if they didn’t get it you can contact your high school again to have them resend.

@jasennian Did you send in official transcripts? I am confused if the red x is because the school wants the official transcripts or the final grades. Congratulations on getting in!

@mamabear336 Mine took quite a bit. I was sure they had received it because I had a tracking number, and I knew it was delivered. The portal however did not reflect this until about four weeks later. When I called I was told that they had received a lot of mail and I needed to give them time to scan the transcript. So, it is very likely that your documents have not been scanned yet.

@nrivera12 Did you apply by March 1 deadline?

@nrivera12 All the transcripts I sent in when I applied were official. Regardless, I believe you still have to send in official transcripts if you sent in unofficial ones when you applied.

Do y’all think submitting my application late after May will decrease my chance for admission?

@ambitiouslicious I did!

@jasennian I was confused if final Spring grades needed to be sent due to unofficial transcripts. However, it seems like everyone who gets admitted needs to send final grades. Not sure if some people are not asked to send final grades.

Any Leader Scholar applicants? Applied by February 14th and still waiting to hear back. Used service 2 schools, transferring from Penn State with a 3.6.

I didn’t. I’m pulling for you though! S2S has a solid pipeline.

@wtbaisley Yep! I applied the 13th actually.

Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone was called for an interview? In last year’s thread I’ve read that Columbia GS schedules interviews before the decisions are released on May 1st. Does anyone know if they reach out to all applicants or just some? I’m a bit nervous as nobody has contacted me for an interview.

@oatafix I never got contacted about one. From the looks of it that can be either a great thing as in they don’t need to clarify anything and you have a solid application or they’ve seen enough and don’t have any questions. It seems like the middle percentiles get the phone call to make their case. I could be completely off base tho
