Hi guys! I submitted my app on mid of May! When I can expect to receive my admission decision? I’m international applicant, anyone in the same boot? Can we share our stat ? ( regular decision applicants)
Hi! I submitted late Mat, also an international applicant, I guess it would take 6-8 weeks? I have emailed them but not heard back yet. You can arrange a phone appointment if needed
Hey! Thanks for replying!! May I ask where you are you from? Can we share our stat? @GS2020APP
I got accepted today!!! I’m 21 and am an international student. I first applied to Columbia College but my application was forwarded to GS on April 20th because I had taken a year and a half between high school and college volunteering in Germany. I sent the autobiographical essay on May 11th and I received an email today at 6:08 pm EST notifying an update on my portal. I hope this helps and I’m excited to meet you all
Does anyone know about the procedure of transferring credit from my current institution??
@spanishtransfer congratulations!
I also got in as well! I wasn’t expected the news so soon at all! BTW technically I am also an international student, and I asked for an expedited decision merely a few days ago
So according to the Bulletin on their GS policy for transfer credit, you should have listed your current institution on your application in order for transfer credit to be considered.
“The Office of Admissions and the Dean of Students Office determine the award of transfer credit. The Entrance Credit Report (ECR) and the Core Requirements Checklist specify both the total number of transfer credits awarded and the core requirements to which those credits may correspond. Both the ECR and the Core Requirements Checklist are usually contained within the admissions acceptance packet or sent separately soon after notification of acceptance. As noted on the ECR at the time of admission, some pending transfer credit may require further information such as course descriptions and/or syllabi.”
"In all cases, all transfer credit must be finalized within six months of matriculation. "
If you want to use transfer credit to fulfill major requirements, you’ll have to contact the Director of Undergraduate Study at the major department in Columbia. Generally they will accept up to 12 GS-approved transfer credits to count towards the major, but each department has its own policies and limits that you should check when you contact them.
Not sure if I can post links here, but you can find more info on the Transfer Students page (and the Transfer Credits page) on the GS website
@GSTourGuides Thank you very much for your response!! This was super helpful!
@WaHiHi @spanishtransfer congratulations! It’s amazing to get back to your decision within 3 weeks!! Can you guys share your stat? Like GPA and EC.
Here’s mine
Congratulations, @WaHiHi and @spanishtransfer !
Has anyone done the remote academic planning session? Mine is next week, and I’m wondering what to expect.
I think I registered for the same one, but then I realized I can’t attend all of it (especially the following meet-and-greet session, which wasn’t in the description when I registered). When I go back, the link says the registration deadline has passed and I can’t cancel or reschedule it either.
Got accepted last week!
24-year-old Army Veteran transferring from Massachusetts.
Possibly looking for a roommate.
Is there a Facebook group or another site that accepted students have been talking on?
There’s a Facebook group called “Columbia GS - Fall 2020 Admitted Students” that you can request to join! There’s also a more general purpose “GS Students” Facebook group.
Anyone know when is the last day to submit the essay for the regular decision ?
Originally it was June 1 , but I have read where they’re Still taking applications after the due date .
Hi all,
I submitted my application on April 27th, and the final recommendation was uploaded on May 5th. I haven’t heard back yet, should I be concerned?
hey! How did you go about requesting an expedited decision?
I receive my letter of acceptance on July 1 at 5:20 PM. My complete application was submitted on May 31 around 6:35 PM.
