@GS2020APP I am so sorry to hear that, keep your head up and don’t get discouraged!
@longshot413 I completely understand. I am in the same boat as you and haven’t received anything yet. Congrats to every person that has been accepted and I am nervously waiting to know if I will be joining you. Please have a great night everyone, and to those who were not accepted…yet! Keep your head up and use it as motivation to tackle another G.S application or whatever path you have decided on. You will do amazing things, no matter what path you take!
What were your stats if you don’t mind me asking?
@corei7 what ywere your stats if you don’t mind me asking?
@froshman12
These are my stats:
Community College Graduated this Spring with an AS (Honors) 64 credits
GPA: 3.84
Foreign High School GPA: 15 / 20
Duolingo: 125
EXTRACURRICULAR & EXPERIENCE: Member of Programming Club and later became a VP, Member of PTK, College Peer Mentor, DATA TEAM at my college, Volunteer and community service, Sales Associate, Assistant Manager of a Store
Awards: Scholarship for Study Abroad
Weak Area: Got a C on my first semester and a W on my English class. But I got straight A for 3 semesters and I took an honor class.
I wanted to ask here before reaching out to the university, if anyone has had experience with the “defer” option on the acceptance letter. I’ve spent the past 48 hours just letting the news sink in. Try as I have, I cannot find any details as to what this would mean (defer to the next semester? do you have a choice as to when you defer to?) by selecting this option and I do not want to shoot myself in the foot. I would happily click “accept” if I knew that taking an online course is 100% an option for Fall 2020. (I currently live in Florida and may not be able to relocate by August)
Any advice or knowledge from those who have been accepted and/or already gone through the process would be most welcome!
Has anyone tried submitting the new student scholarship application after the deadline? Does the system accept the application?
My friend just got accepted on Wednesday and wanted to know if anyone received their acceptance packet in the mail yet or received any secondary e-mails after acceptance? She didn’t receive anything. Are they taking longer time to send things out?
I too was accepted on Wednesday. I have not received any additional emails or other correspondence just yet. I did “Accept” my offer letter just now and am going through the admitted student checklist. I registered for a mandatory remote planning session on Aug. 4th but have hit a brick wall in registering for the mandatory new student orientation… Evidently, this is a two-day on-campus event on Aug. 30th - Sep. 1st. I find it extremely unlikely that I would be able to attend due to COVID-19 concerns and my current location in Florida (which is becoming an intense hotspot for cases in my immediate area). I sent an email to the orientation address provided and am hoping to hear back that there might be another method for completing the mandatory orientation… If not, I may have to see how to change my “Accept” to a “Defer”, if that is even possible. If I wont be able to do that, then it should be a circus for me in trying to find out how to get to NYC for a couple of days during corona-virus craziness.
Fingers crossed.
…update: I heard back and all is well. I completely missed the July 7th update from the Dean. So, moving forward with becoming a Fall 2020 student:)
@smoonthhs I did not receive any acceptance packet, and still waiting to hear my financial aid. Anyone knows how long does it take to hear the financial aid and the institutional scholarship ?
how long did it take for people to get their admittance packages in the mail?
Have you received a response?
Not one word. I’m thinking I’ll be with the other rejected applicants on Monday sent out as one giant mailing list group message. It seems like they’ve already messaged all their admits this round. Again, this is pure speculation. But my gut feeling is that the window of opportunity has closed ?!
Stats:
• Previously attended HYPS years ago: dismissed.
• CC GPA: 4.0/4.0 (A.A. and Post Degree Certificate).
• Cisco CCNA R&S.
• CompTIA trifecta (A+, Network+, Security+).
• Worked IT Help Desk at a Fortune 500 company for six months.
• SAT I: 760/800 M, 750/800 V
• Very strong essay.
• Had a ton of HS EC’s but didn’t list any because I thought they were no longer relevant.
• Two academic LORs (one from my Discrete Math professor and the other from my Cisco NetAcademy instructor).
• Exceeded the maximum credits allowed at my CC to receive any more Federal financial aid.
Honestly, stats only get you past the AdCom’s first cut round. The rest is a crapshoot ?. AdCom, if you’re reading this, please prove me wrong ?
I was also accepted Wednesday. I spoke with somebody by phone yesterday who assured me that I wasn’t expected to accept my offer until I had received info regarding how the fall semester will go for GS students along with FinAid and such. For those asking, I also haven’t received the acceptance packet in the mail, yet.
Is there anyone who applied from Africa? Also, has anyone received any email confirming that the decisions will be released tomorrow?
Accepted on the 15th and nothing in the mail yet.
my pal still has nothing in the mail and its been 5 days does it usually take them this long to send out admittance packages to your home???
@JacobG96 Hi, as of today did you receive anything yet ?
@EnzoDerek did you call the number on the website (212-854-2772) to speak with someone? Every time I call that number I get no response – regardless of which department I try. Is there another number to call?
