Columbia GS Fall 2020 Early Action/Regular Decision Thread

Who knows? But I do hope they come out soon, the anxiety is killing me lol. What major did you apply for?

yeah, I thought at first my application was on regular decision because I submitted it on March 3rd, but it still said Early Action. so I was expecting to get decision by May1. Also, they said “The Office of Admissions will continue to accept supplementary application materials through Monday, March 23 for all applicants who submit their application by the deadline.” I finished submitting my documents by March 17, (recommendation letter). So, I expect to hear from them by May1… hopefully not July.

@ApacheR12 12 congratulations on your acceptance. Can I ask you how the GSAE was? Is it exactly like taking the ACT or SAT, similar or different?

@llinrs Philosophy! But I don’t fit the standard profile of accepted students so I’m not sure how they’ll respond to my application :frowning: How about you?

@procake Philosophy? That’s awesome. I’m applying to major in financial economics with a minor in business management. Also, why do you say that you don’t fit the standard profile?

I wish I had the Math aptitude to do financial economics! I’ve only taken a very short amount of time off compared to others and I’m not a veteran and I have barely any transfer credits

How long have you been out of school? And also, you don’t have to be a veteran to qualify for this program. I’m not a veteran, either. And just because you’re a veteran it doesn’t mean they would admit you. It’s more than just time away from school and being a vet. The number of credit hours don’t matter either as long as you’ve done some college work so they can see something academically. I think we all have a good chance to be admitted, we just need to be confident in our application and know that regardless of decisions, we worked hard to get to where we are and should be proud we were able to apply to this program.

@elleko15 Thank you! Last time I took the SAT was back in 2011, so I honestly don’t remember much from it. What I can say is that the GSAE is not at all difficult, so long as you’re good at reading and writing comprehension.

@procake I haven’t checked my mail today, but yesterday I haven’t received anything. I just checked via admissions portal and was directed over to the admitted students portal. As of now, I have my UNI generated and my lionmail account activated. I’ll update you as soon as I get my physical admissions packet.

Anyone else hear back??

Haven’t heard anything. Applied 2/28 and have been checking my portal like crazy. This has been agonizing.

Neither have I. I applied 2/22???

@geekflower @kiiwii98 If I recall, it’s rolling admissions so you’ll find out eventually. I applied somewhere around mid-January. I wish you all the best of luck and hopefully I’ll see you guys on campus next semester!

@geekflower @kiiwii98 Did you guys submit all of the required materials then or just your application?

Hi Guys, I’m waiting as well!!! I started my application on January 24th, and I finished submitting all the required documentation by February 19th.

I submitted all the materials on feb 22 when I applied

@ApacheR12 I’m waiting to hear on admissions like everyone else but congrats! No combat but I was in somaliland last year! Hope I get in and we can link up.

Also to everyone who applied 3/1 and is still in the dark, I have a friend in admissions at Columbia College and they let me know that we will be hearing “any day now”. When I called admissions someone slipped up and let me know I have an e-mail so I’m sure they’re doing a lot of back of house processing and we will definitely hear if not by this Friday, next Friday. Good luck to all!

I’m loving it. Anxiety and fear make me feel alive. Hope we’ll all be able to hear something by this Friday.

I submitted my application on 2/28, and recently got an email from an admissions manager last Friday asking a supplemental question regarding my possible return to the classroom after 10 years. That’s the only communication I’ve received regarding my application. Anyone else get an additional question and/or anxiously refreshing their emails at all hours? Best of luck to you all!
