@anxiousmess2020 I’m in the same boat! I really wish the decisions would come out alreadyN also, did you submit just your application 2/28 or everything that was required? I can never tell what people mean exactly by submitting the application. I submitted mine around the same time as you but the essay much later on
@Trevdog333 thank you for sharing this. It’s really not helpful when someone says “you’ll find out eventually.” We all know that. But for our sake of minds any kind of tighter projection is appreciated. I feel much better after your comment!!
@procake My essay, GSAE score, application, and transcripts were in by the 28th. Recommendation letters were in by 3/2
My other concern aside from being accepted is if Columbia will even open their doors for the fall? I’m trying to keep positive but people keep telling me to not get my hopes up about being in a physical classroom until the Spring. Anyone else have that concern/curiosity ?
@Trevdog333 I hope you get in too man! I’d definitely be looking forward to linking up and talking shop about the military and our deployments
@geekflower It’s definitely a concern of mine as well, and I’ll probably inquire about that soon. In any case, we should just be prepared for what might happen ahead of time.
@geekflower Also, I apologize for the vagueness of my previous response; I only have just enough information as you do. Ultimately, considering decisions are made on a rolling basis (we all know that), I’m sure that you can gauge an expected time frame for a decision.
To put things into perspective:
01/10: started application
02/15: submitted application
02/26: submitted all required items ( GSAE exam and essay)
04/15: received acceptance letter via admissions portal
so it took 7 weeks and 1 day before a decision was made for my application. I went back in the forum and calculated the time when another person submitted their application and heard back. It was 7 weeks and 1 day for that person as well. Of course, this isn’t necessarily the case for everyone. Admissions stated it should take about 6 to 8 weeks for a decision to be made after all required material has been submitted. So if you completed your application on 02/28, rather than just submitting it, you should hear back pretty soon.
Given what @ApacheR12 says, if we go off a presumed 7 weeks and a day notification timeframe, a handful us should know something by this Friday. The anxiety is eating me alive!
To go off @geekflower 's concerns for the fall semester, I’m curious if it would be possible to defer an acceptance offer to the spring semester? I would much rather not sacrifice my introductory semester at Columbia by spending it completely online, defeating the whole purpose of an Ivy League education and pricetag. Then again, as others have noted, this is an unprecedented time for our current generation; I suppose a fully online semester could set us apart as a steadfast, determined class in the wake of a worldwide pandemic? We’re all nontraditional students, might as well throw something else in there to fully solidify our experience! Either way, I hope our government and society gets its act together so we may possibly meet in the fall - that would be most ideal!
I wish to know that as well. Might have to extend my Army contract a couple months to get situated due to COVID.
Are you g2g or ETSing?
ETS
I GOT ACCEPTED TODAY!
@anxiousmess2020 Congrats!!!
Hey there, I got accepted today as well. I’m in shock. Best of luck to everyone. Wow, what a ride.
Hello guys. Do you know if there is any difference between the rolling decision timeframe for first-year applicants and transfer applicants?
Congrats! Hoping to hear something back soon, the anticipation is a wild rush.
I applied to Columbia University on March 1st as a transfer but was then notified of the GS program in April and they said I could transfer my application to GS. Does anyone have experience with this or know how long the process will be? Am I starting the waiting game completely over?
@geekflower what time did you get an email?
@kiiwii98 I got the email right around 2:30 pm. I was accepted to UCLA yesterday and now unsure of what to do.
@geekflower definitely weigh out the pros and cons. I would try to make a trip to see the campuses as well (whenever you’re able to). Congratulations on both schools!!
