If you don’t mind me asking, what do you plan on majoring in? age? lol
I’m a 27-year-old international applicant. My major is Art History. Currently in a CC with a GPA of 3.94 (2 semesters; only one B in a 2 credit class and I think every single student got a B).
I had a very good job before deciding to go back to college, I rather not specify for anonymity purposes. And I work part-time now as well.
Also, I do a lot of community work with a non-profit and am an active member of two clubs at the college I am attending.
Worst part is that now I am a member of Phi Theta Kappa, and I will have 61 credits and a much better GPA after this semester (I took 7 classes this spring and I am expecting all A’s), so I feel like I should’ve waited a little longer.
I will definitely get an appointment with a counselor and apply again if I don’t get accepted. But I sure hope I get in this time.
What about you?
I feel the same, very anxious… I applied on 2/06 and am eagerly waiting. I’m an international applicant(Nepal) with 5 years of educational gap and no experience with college whatsoever. I don’t have any hope but Idk why I can’t help myself from going crazy. This process is taking forever and I hope we’ll hear from them in upcoming days.
So I’m 25 years old from Seattle, Washington. I graduated High School in 2013 with a 1.5 GPA due to poor living conditions and abuse blah blah blah. I wrote my essay about being a first generation student who comes from poverty, as well as the first in his family to graduate from high school. I also talked about my parents negative thoughts towards higher education, and my determination to prove them wrong. I waited to go to college until fall of 2019 which is when I qualified for Fafsa based on my own personal income and not my parents. I currently have a 3.62 GPA and I finish my Associates Degree in two months. Most of my classes over the last year have all been 4.0, a few of my classes during my first year were 3.3-3.6 which brought my GPA from about a 3.8 to where it is now. I’ve called myself a communications major so far, and I applied for the the film and media studies major at GS. I think my situation is very different from a lot of others and I feel really confident in my essays.
I should also mention I’m coming from Community College, not University. I did get accepted into NYU’s SPS program, which is actually one of my dream schools, however I am very interested to see if I could get in to Columbia which is my favorite ivy, and I think there is a chance they might give me better financial aid.

Good luck to all of you applying! I’m wishing you the best and fingers crossed that the conversation does not end on here!
I think tomorrow’s the day for some decisions to come out (hopefully, at least ).
Yes! I am completely hoping for an update tomorrow! Every thread that I have looked at decisions always start being released the second Wednesday of April, and I applied all the way back on February 4th. I’m ready for the wait to be over lol
Nothing here, anyone else?! The suspense is literally killing me. I applied 2/8.
Nothing here either. I refreshed the page at least 100 times but nothing. I am dying I applied Jan. 20th
Don’t be shy call and see whats up lol its literally been 10 weeks this is crazy
Any one try to call them?
Official decision date is May 1st, so I’ll wait until then and will forgo checking the application portal on an hourly basis until then
How does Columbia GS normally inform students, individually and collectively, about their decisions? I believe decisions will be disclosed through the student portal, but do students also receive an email? Are decisions posted on any website?
Seems as though all communication happens through the portal. I think technically some sources say that you are supposed to receive an email stating there has been an update to your portal with a link – but I didn’t receive this email, only knew my decision by logging into the portal.
Also, there were no early decisions reported for the priority early action, so there may not be any this round either, meaning May 1st will likely be the date for everybody. Hope I’m wrong for everyone’s sanity, but that’s my hunch!
Will you or have you already registered for summer courses? Also would you mind sharing info regarding your aid package? Was it a generous one?
I had wanted to do the summer start but I can’t in good conscience accept my spot until I receive my FA package and can crunch some numbers. I had all my FA info ready early so it is a little frustrating that I’m still waiting but I know it was must be a ton of work to get them out to folks. So at this point planning for a fall start, assuming I get the average amount of aid, which is only I think 12k for first year students – GS is not known for many generous aid packages.
Hello everyone!
I received my acceptance letter a few weeks ago; however, I am still waiting to hear from Yale EW.
Does anyone know how long I have to reply to Columbia? Is it May 1st? I can’t seem to find this information on their website. I’ll call on Monday but thought this group would know.
Also, they accepted 50 of my 60 credits to transfer. Anyone have a similar rate?
Many thanks and good luck to those still waiting!
Best,
BB
Congrats on your acceptance! May I ask when did you apply?
Thank you! I applied March 1st and heard back fairly quickly.
Nothing from Yale EW yet, though that application I submitted March 14th .
