Has anyone applied and been accepted as a transfer student? Do you get a transfer credit evaluation or something like that?
Yes, @artsystemgirl27. I was admitted and have received an Entrance Credit Report. I also have my FA package. Not sure they’ll reevaluate it further, once I finish my AA at my current CC in July. Don’t think it matters. GS accepted only 36 credits of my 42 earned until now.

hey everyone so i got into barnard yesterday as a transfer…i was in the process of writing my essay for the columbus GS application due may 15, but is it worth submitting anymore? I believe they would get back to me with a decision after the deposit deadline for barnard…
only you can answer that. Would you go to Columbia if you got in? Is financial aid a consideration? Can you get an extension or afford to lose the deposit?
i’m not sure if i would prefer barnard or columbia gs. unfortunately i don’t qualify for financial aid so it would be super expensive either way, so i might go with my in-state public school option anyways. i guess right now i’m just trying to generate options and was wondering if anyone on here thought that columbia gs had something over barnard.

Firstly, congrats on your prestigious acceptances! Secondly I am no admissions counselor but as far as I know both Barnard and GS are one of the four schools at Columbia. Regardless, you will have access to the same professors and research opportunities as other students in Columbia. I do not think there is something that one college has over the other just because you have access to the same opportunities. While there are some college specific opportunities, the campus (through various student experiences) seem to be quite integrated. Anyone feel free to correct my if I am wrong.

I had a quick question for the admitted students, I was wondering as to how you received your acceptance letter. Did they notify you by email or was there an applicant portal update? What did the letter say? Thanks in advance!
Here’s the acceptance letter. It says you’re supposed to receive an email once a decision has been made on your application, however, I did not. I just checked right at 5PM EST and saw an update was posted. The “Status Update” link will become visible above the “Verify Address” notation in your portal.

@kingkenny: I applied on March 1, and on April 21, I received an email saying “Please note that an update has been made to your application. Please log in to the status portal and check your application status.” Once I logged onto the application portal, I found the acceptance letter (which @james89131 posted above).

Welp applied for transfer yesterday, anyone else apply at the regular deadline? I hear decisions will be in early July.

I applied Regular Decision yesterday also. I only have 2 semesters of “good” community college grades (and one is only summer semester) – hoping the rest of my application makes up for it

when i was on the phone with an admissions officer for an advising appointment recently, she told me a decision would come 3-6 weeks after you submit, and really more like 3

I emailed Emmett (he was the one I had talked to via phone appointment) and he said the decisions will come out at the latest July 5th. But during the general webinar with Evangelyn she said 3-6 weeks from your submission date.

I’m having trouble contacting someone from the school, I got an email saying my test scores were not received even though I uploaded an unofficial copy and ordered an official score report over 2 weeks ago. I’ve tried calling the admissions office ~10 times over the last few days and no one picks up. Are they closing phone support over the summer?
Edit: Never mind, their phone lines must just be exceptionally busy. Got through soon after posting this.
