Columbia GS Fall 2021 Early/Regular Decision Thread

Can you share the contact of the email

Because my application is complete but I didn’t receive any email about the completion of my application.

And what is CUID?

A reminder for everyone applying to and enrolling at GS:

Hi. Sorry for the late response. But everyone’s email addresses are published here: School of General Studies Undergraduate Admission | School of General Studies

Just scroll down to the admissions team and you’ll be able to see their email address. I spoke with Evangelyn Diaz so that’s who I emailed.

A CUID is the Columbia University ID they issue you once your application has been processed.

Hope this helps.

It has been three weeks since I submitted my application (Feb 26), yet I still have not received my CUID. Anyone else in the same boat?

Hi @GS2020APP: Yes! Same here. Anxiously waiting. I also applied to the Eli Whitney Students Program at Yale. More waiting, more anxiety.

Apparently this means that they haven’t even processed our application yet… I’m now worried if a decision will be made by May. Preparing for spring entrance now…

@GS2020APP: I was an Early Action Fall 2021 applicant (applied on March 1). The website states that, “Applications completed by March 1 will receive a decision by May 1.” Hope they will stick to the plan!

You’re also able to make an appointment to speak with admissions to inquire about the status of your application.

Just follow this link: Columbia University School of General Studies - Admissions Informational Appointment

Hope this helps.

Thanks, @james89131. They’re within the given time frame, so I’ll wait—for now. If I don’t hear back from them by the established date, I’ll send emails and make appts starting 5:01 PM on May 1st!

May 1st is definitely the historical date, and it’s also the date that they say is valid on their website. I would expect that we will see responses echoed on May 1st again this year too. I doubt they’re still receiving more applicants at this point as all of the forums seem much more deadened lately about GS.

In regards to the CUID info: I got my CUID directly after completing my application. I can’t remember if it was that day or the next morning, but you definitely should have received it. I suggest you reach out to them by phone if you still haven’t gotten it in a few days. They’re very friendly!

Hi everyone, I made an appointment with an admissions counselor last week. She advised me that my application was currently under review by the admit counsel. Does anyone have experience with the turnaround time from counsel to decision? Thanks for any intel!

Hey @ramonaspamona: Thanks for the update. Guess we’ll just have to wait. The answer is bound to arrive by May 1st. Good luck!

Hello everyone!

I’ve been lurking around this thread for a long time now and I have to say I am really curious about the conversation about GS’s acceptance rate.

I also can’t help but notice that this thread has 14.5 thousand views, more than double of what previous GS threads had (spring 2021 has 6k I think).

So let’s say out of that 14k only 12k are applying to Columbia for Fall 2021; if the acceptance rate were to be 35%, the number of admitted students would be above 4000. If only 900 students were to be accepted, that’d mean the acceptance rate is 7.5%!

Maybe I shouldn’t even consider that the number of applicants is that high, but again the views for threads about GS only get higher…

But also, it is true that the Dual BA and the Post-Bac premed are considerably more competitive, so I’d only make sense that they had lower acceptance rates?

I’m just overthinking bc I’m really anxious about my application.

Let me know what ya’ll think and good luck to everyone!!

Hi

I applied for the early action by March and I’m still waiting for a decision:)

I spoke to an admissions officer a few days ago and she said it’s between 15-20%. She said that because GS admits on a rolling basis, it’s hard to be exact.

I will say, considering the self-selectivity and unique nontraditional rubric, this would make sense. Consider the Wharton MBA program – the acceptance rate is 22% with a similar average age of students. Just something to think about.

Tomorrow’s Ivy Day. Do you think that some decisions for GS might come out then too? I’m checking my portal every single day like a madman

I was hoping we would get some decisions yesterday too. I’ve gone back to look at the 2020 and 2019 fall thread and it seems like people started getting their decisions on Wednesdays during April. Here’s hoping decision rollouts start today. I applied 2/4

Still nothing lmao. I’m going to make a Facebook page so we don’t have to worry about it later! I’ll post it here. They should start releasing decisions next week for sure considering it’s started the second week of April the last 4-5 years.

Here’s the link https://www.facebook.com/groups/130645015690710/?ref=share

I’m sure if you search “Columbia GS 2021” you’ll find it. Good luck everyone!

Yeah I think they’ll start releasing decisions next week too. :crossed_fingers:t4: I applied back in January, just missing the priority Early Action deadline by 5 days, and I’m anxious to find out. I’m so nervous :weary:

yeah, I think that is totally possible actually. 22% isn’t that bad!

BTW anyone wants to share stats just to maybe see what kind of applicants we have this year?
