Anyone received the scholarship notice? I was wondering how long it takes to get the institutional scholarship result.
(“School of General Studies New Student Scholarship”)
Hi! Each application may be different. I received an email requesting mid term grades and a further explanation on why I chose my intended major on Friday November 9th. I was told to just give my own estimate of how I was currently trending, nothing official or fancy just course name and grade. I submitted my application on October 1st and didn’t submit my essay until November 1st with all my docs coming in after October 1st. I received my acceptance update Wednesday November 14th around 5pm. I submitted my FAFSA that same day since I never bothered to submit to my current school (I make too much money to receive aid from my CC). I received my financial aid package yesterday afternoon.
The process seems to be different for some. But I think as long as you selected early action initially, that’s how it was processed.
Also, CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL ACCEPTED!!! Can’t wait for my planning day and orientation. For anyone reading, my early academic career was so bad I didn’t think I should even apply. That’s why I was so last minute with everything. So many signs and things aligned that I felt like if I don’t try I’ll never know. I was so lucky to have a professor who is an Alumni write one of my letters of Recommendation. I’m not even going to lie, I have some really harsh grades on my transcript from my freshmen year about 12 years ago. But I went back to school and worked hard. My current gpa is a 3.76 which is far from perfect. I’m still in disbelief that I will be on campus in January and my acceptance letter is on my vanity table and I read it every morning. If something is meant for you it’s meant for you. I have no idea what they look for in applicants, but you should never count yourself out, and always throw your hat in the ring if it’s something you want.
Just got accepted!! I cannot believe this!!
I got in!!!
@Chiliman and @PhoenixFlowers congrats guys stats by any chance if any of you transferred?
did anyone have an interview? just got mine and was wondering how the interviews went for other people
@Snekfest Transferring from a CC cumulative GPA was 3.7 current semester GPA 4.0. Talked about a lot in my personal statement (childhood traumas, family life, why education is important for me)
Did you apply for Spring '19 regular decision? If so, Good luck!
@PhoenixFlowers Thank you so much for the kind words and stats! Will be applying for Fall '19. Here’s to hoping to see on campus, cheers!
rejected. just found out 20 minutes ago. feels terrible and devastated as this is all I really wanted. Huge congrats to those who got in.
So sorry to hear that! Were you applying Early action or Regular?
@Kloppblitzery
Thanks, I applied for Regular Decision.
@omnitorch really sorry that you weren’t accepted. This isn’t the end for you, remember you can and will still make it far without Columbia❤️
Is anybody still waiting on financial aid?
I’m still waiting. Have you submitted all required forms?
@rolandbarthes I have submitted all documents so I must be doing something wrong
Is anybody considering deferring or know of anyone that has?
@tugboat560 What do you mean by you didn’t do well during your early academic years? How bad did you do? I have really bad grades myself in my earlier years but I have a 4.0 in my first semester and was wondering how I’d fare. Hope to hear from you!
@sithlord I am applying to GS and I intend to pursue economics and math major can I ask you some questions ?
