Columbia GS Spring 2022 Early Action/Regular Decision Thread

I am married however we live in NYC so no separation/long distance issues there. If you are accepted you should go into depth with your advisor. You should also talk to fiancé and go over the challenges you may face.

I guess we will hold our breath on Wednesday, and if that’s not the day, wait for Friday.

The worst case scenario is that we don’t even hear back this week at all :joy:

They don’t seem as busy as they were the last couple of semesters though, thankfully. This should be the week!

I hope so!!

This has to be the week, considering admissions told me yesterday that we would know Friday at the absolute latest.
I wonder how many people applied this semester

By the way, not that I was expecting much from today, but nothing on my end and it’s now past 5 PM EST haha

Yup lol I just checked as well, nothing on my end

No update on my side :man_shrugging:t4:

I got an email from them! They asked me follow-up questions on my plan if I enroll at Columbia. In particular, they mentioned that it is not advisable to enroll in 6 classes per semester at Columbia. I think they wanted to clear that up with me precisely because I have taken six classes per semester as a cc student, haha.

They said to reply by the end of Wednesday. So I do not reckon that I will personally receive my decision on Wednesday. But maybe some applicants will hear back on Wednesday. My money is on Friday.

I don’t know if it’s a good sign or bad haha. Trying not to be nervous.
You are totally qualified to get in, so I would not count yourself out at all!

Thank you! Guess I should know no later than Friday!

Same. I haven’t heard anything from them so I’m nervous

Do you know by any chance if not hearing back is a bad sign? Like have there been applicants from ur knowledge who didn’t hear anything and still got in? I’m nervous now

I think the fact that you got that notification that they wanted the official transcript is a very good sign. Now that we are just days (maybe hours) away from a decision it maybe best just to kinda let it play out from here.

I think you are going to be accepted.

I haven’t heard anything but I’m trying not to guess what that might mean haha. I love that I can vent out here tho. My wife is sick of hearing me cry about it haha

I think they reach out to the applicants that they are deliberating on… which is what makes me a little nervous. Most applicants are not asked anything and get accepted, from what I have seen. Please don’t be worried. Your stats are amazing, and you have the right mindset. I am sure that you will get in.

Exactly, same. I love being able to talk about this here. I’m pretty sure everyone in my immediate circle is relieved decisions come out this week because I can tell they don’t wanna hear the word “Columbia” for a good few months LOL

First of all, thank you for saying that to me it’s actually quite relieving knowing that I still have a shot. But I will say my thoughts: the fact they reached out to you, atleast to me, shows you’re at the very least being truly and wholly considered. They’ve been interested by you enough to want to reach out for additional info. On the other hand, I have no idea what admissions thinks of me… lol.

Personally, I think the chances are in your favor. I’m spilling all the positive energy I have in your direction, hoping you get this. I will say, after reading the four of your guys stories, I truly believe you guys deserve admission. Your stories are compelling and personally, I think it’s more likely you get accepted than not

I have to say, this is one of the most supportive and wholesome threads I’ve been a part of

Thank you so much! Being a part of this thread has really been a blessing for me during this process. I don’t think anyone else can understand what we are going through right now lol!

And from what I read from previous threads, most accepted applicants were never approached by Columbia with further questions. And there were a couple that said they got asked further questions and were still not accepted. I’m curbing my enthusiasm accordingly. But from reading everyone’s stats, I really cannot fathom why any of you wouldn’t be accepted. You are all so great and have persevered and accomplished so much, and I am sure your application appropriately reflects that. Sending positive energy to everyone here!

Maybe we can all join a Discord/Whatsapp group after this to keep in touch :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Yes please! Regardless of our outcomes, I would love to know what all of you end up accomplishing  and in the best case scenario, all of us start together.

And I agree with you. Speaking to all of you on here has been great. No one besides y’all on this thread truly understands how much this means to me, because like, I don’t actually care about the whole Ivy League thing. I think it’s a cool bonus of sorts lol but it really doesn’t serve me much. Being a student here is entirely about getting a damn good education in the field I care about most, and meeting other motivated and passionate students.
Also I don’t know if any of you relate, but GS to me is like a big reset button— a chance for me to forget that label of a poor student I carried much of my life and focus on the present, understanding that I am a committed and hardworking person now and that’s all that matters. That’s the main reason I’m so dead set on attending school here
