hi, i live in manhattan and applied ED to columbia. i was under the impression i would almost definitely get an interivew with an alumna, but i still have not been contacted by anyone. should i take this as a bad sign? i know "interviews are positively not required for admission to columbia," but i feel that since i live so very close that i should be receiving one.

i thought interviews were based solely on your location and how early you turn in part 1 of the app (i turned mine in on 10/29) - but do grades, sats, etc come into play? does this mean i'm not being considered for admissions? this makes no sense to me, considering i have high grades and boards... are emails still being sent out to set up interviews even though it's almost december?

Interviews are based solely on location; that's it. There are tons of applicants in NYC and many do not get interviews even though there are also tons of alumni. It's too late to be contacted for an interview now, but this means absolutely nothing about your chances. By the way, alumna means a female grad.

The system's a little odd, then, because I haven't received any interview assignments for the ED pool, so I figured Manhattan was thoroughly covered. Either they break up manhattan by neighborhood, or not all the ED applicants are getting fed to the ARC for interviews.
