Ok, this is a totally scary new world for me, so be nice. First posting, first kid going to college, we are complete babes in the woods. Here's the question, until yesterday we had never heard of "likely" letters and our non-athlete, non-engineering, reg decision applicant received an e-mail "likely" from Columbia.
Anybody else?
Also, RD applications out to some other ivies, have the others started sending these"likely" letters already?

There’s a thread about this in the main one.

Sorry, the main what? How do I find the location? I’m sorry to be so ignorant.

Obstinate means the general “Columbia University” forum as opposed to the “Columbia 2014” subgroup in which this is posted. Try [Columbia University - College Confidential](Columbia University - College Confidential Forums) and do a search on “likely” if you need to. And, congratulations!

Yes. Apologize for the vagueness.

I have been trying to find out all about this as my kid also got one.(for Columbia) It appears that the major IVYs except MIT send likely letters numbering about 100-300 to those students who they would like to attend their respective schools. So for those of you who haven’t got one, it is not end of the road, there is still hope.

MIT is not an Ivy
