Columbia Official Early Decision Class of 2012 Results

jhl: depends what your second choice is.....

ACCEPTED!
post stats later

For those who got deferred, you still have a chance.
One of my best friends was deferred ED last year and is now currently a Columbia student, :)

Mondo: True, but the chances decrease rapidly. You go from a 30% shot(for Fu, anyway) to an 18% shot, basically halving your chances. Of course, that could be explained in other ways(such as the applicant pool being self-selective), but ED has its advantages which are lost in deferral.

accepted! im puerto rican!

to second truazn's post on the previous page, i too have seen columbia reject even the most talented applicants who got into 'better' or as good unis. Of all the univs i've encountered, columbia has the weirdest process of selection, which is exacerbated by low acceptance rates. So really, if you've been rejected or deferred, it means little, it means that you probably won't be studying here anytime soon, but other than that not much else. There'll surely be an awesome school, which you will grow into, awaiting. I've personally seen columbia rejects get into every single top school.

SO FREAKING EXCITED!

General Comments:
At first, I thought I was going to pass out, (good thing I listened to a Beatles song when I read the letter otherwise I would have lost it) and had to call my parents to tell them I was rejected. After talking about with my family though, I feel MUCH better, and now am focusing on my other apps (haven't started any others yet). HERE I COME UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO!!!!! Hopefully everything happens for a reason...

P.S
On a less depressing note, today I was voted most likely to run for president. Here I come Oval Office!!!

^Yale here I come!.. haha.. I really need some consolation.. There's just too much at stake for me.. especially an international needing aid..

Defer = Does it mean that I have good credentials and I can get into a good college? or I just suck?

(I know the 2 paras are contradictory but I don;t even know what to do now..)

Glad though that my options have been broadened and that I have the chances to compare $$$ packages from other schools.
