Columbia or Brown?

<p>I got into both Columbia and Brown, much to my surprise, and now I have no idea which to pick. I’m a white girl from a suburb of NYC (across the Hudson from Westchester) who is interested in mainly Physical Science, but also History and Political Science. Anyone like to weigh in on why one school is better than the other, in terms of academics, social scene, or overall atmosphere?</p>

<p>Wow, I was actually just about to make a post like this. I got accepted to both Brown and Columbia and I am TORN! this has to be one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. I’m from Hawaii and am interested in pretty much everything, haha. </p>

<p>I’ve been talking to friends I have at both colleges and have evaluations from them, if you want to hear what they have to say?</p>

<p>If I were making this decision, and NYC wasn’t the deciding factor, I would look very closely at Columbia’s core curriculum and decide if that was for me. This is the area where Brown and Columbia are 180 degrees apart. Do you want to take whatever you want your freshman year, or follow a mandated curriculum?</p>

<p>strongly biased towards brown, but i think brown is the greatest place on earth. i credit it with launching me on the career of my dreams, not to mention some of my most important friendships. it’s also a place where i grew tremendously as a person. and once you decide to go there, you’re always part of the brown family. i can’t tell you enough how many times i’ve come across brown alums in both personal and professional circles and just immediately formed a common bond.
i’m sure you can’t go wrong either way, but brown is seriously awesome</p>
