Columbia or Columbia GS? I can only apply to one, but I don't know which route is best. Columbia would be near impossible to get into, but it would provide financial security because they're need blind and my EFC is 0. Columbia GS, I have a really good shot at due to my college's agreement with them, but I've heard GS is terrible with financial aid. What should I do?

gs might be, but columbia likely will be stingy with FA as well, especially in this economy and especially for xfers...what is your background? gs is a very unique program, and from what i know about it, isn't just an outlet for applicants who want to go to columbia but arent otherwise qualified to get in. usually a few years of "Real world experience" is necessary for gs. if you have been out of college for a few years i would recommend gs would probably be a much better program. if not, i would apply to columbia's regular program, i dont think columbia gs'ers are allowed to dorm with the rest anywho

I took a break, but I have some stats (not SAT) and ECs. I mean, I wouldn't be a guarantee for Columbia, but I might have a very slim shot. Does anyone know Columbia's transfer rates?

Duffle, I thought Columbia meets 100% need

how long was your break for? what kind of work did you do during your break?

i know they do for first years, dont know about xfers although i would think not. look into it.

I have, and the school claims to meet full need of all students except internationals.

During my break, I stayed at home for 3 years until I had enough courage to leave. My parents don't believe in education for women, so if I wanted to go to college, I had to leave and become fully independent.

it doesnt sound like you are really a gs applicant, cc seems like the proper place to apply to

There was a poster here awhile ago who got into GS with no aid. If you can't afford the tuition, GS may not be a real option. Call the school for clarification.
