Columbia or UCLA?

I recently got accepted to both and I have to decide in 2 weeks. I live in California so UCLA wouldn't be much of a change, but I have always wanted to go to New York. I think Columbia is the best in terms of education, but UCLA seems to have more ways for transfers to meet people; specifically sororities. Any thoughts?

are u kidding?

go to Columbia

what’s you FA like for both schools and what do you want to study? if you’re a cali resident, you get discounted tuition, so i’d go there unless your columbia package is better. you’ll have an amazing time at either school though, both in terms of education and social life. although i think ucla has the more active greek life; a lot of columbia students pursue offcampus activities

I haven’t received my financial aid package for Columbia, but I’m pretty sure I won’t be getting anything since it’s need-based. I’m not really focused on the price, but more about the experience and long-term benefits.

My best friend attends Columbia, and speaks very highly of its academic life (she actually was faced with the same choice as you are for freshman admissions). She ended up not wanting to be involved with the Greek culture at Columbia, but she has had a great experience socially, and said that Columbia looks after its transfers quite well, all told. Good luck with your decision!
