I want to go to a school with a really good physics program, and Columbia is one of my top overall choices. I'm seriously considering applying Early Decision, so I really need to know: How good is its physics program? How does Columbia's physics program compare with those notorious ones of Princeton, Harvard, MIT, etc.? I eventually want to go to a good graduate school and get a Ph.D. in the field.

We have a very good physics program actually. Our school is where the atom was split! We have the famous string theorist Brian Green here as well. Basically, our physics program is extremely strong, and it really depends upon what type of physics you want to study. But on the whole, we have a really strong program

The Physics Department at Columbia pretty good. I’m not in the department but I have 2 friends who are, the best thing is apparently the professor student interaction since so few students study physics. Professors are willing to take on student researchers and actively help out students.

I’ve taken Physics I and II in the department. Physics I taught by Michael Tuts was awesome, he’s also a director at CERN. From what I’ve seen, not a bad department for undergraduate studies but I can’t speak to Ph. D program admission.
