Columbia PoliSci with a foreign language

Hello,

I understand that the core curriculum is a large aspect of education at Columbia - if one was to major in political science, is it reasonable to assume that they could also minor or take a concentration in a foreign language for 4 years? Or is the schedule too tight?

It’s absolutely doable, especially if you study abroad. But it means more courses – 6 classes/semester - and more stress. Something like two-thirds of Columbia students declare more than one program of study, but only about one-third end up completing both. Columbia gives students the flexibility to either major or concentrate in a program of study and you can do two majors, two concentrations, or a major and a concentration. Columbia does not offer minor programs.
