Columbia popular majors

Is it too late to go premed your junior year? is there any way to fit in the required courses in two years (with hard work of course)?

[/quote]

The official answer is that it's never too late. There are plenty of older people seeking to become doctors as second careers. You can take the pre-med courses at any time, as long as you take them.

As a practical matter, fitting the required courses in two Columbia years will be nearly impossible if you have to deal with lots of major requirements. If you're thinking about it, you should at least take the intro science courses early on.

just wanted to see if it was a possibility in case poli sci doesn't work out for me.

Generally, it's the other way around. People who can't handle organic chem end up doing poli sci ;)

i know, but maybe i'll start a new trend then. ;-)

Since Columbia 2002 is giving official answers are we to consider her an 'official' of Columbia?

Columbia 2002, can we find you in myspace or face book?

What dorm do you live in?

What's your major?

Columbia2002 is an alumn(us/a).

I don't give official answers nor do I speak for Columbia. I just give my opinions on matters that call for an opinion and state the facts (hopefully they're right!) on matters that call for facts. I'm not on the payroll and/or representing Columbia here in any official capacity. I only speak for myself.

Can you find me? Yes, if you looked for me, you'd find me.

Do medical schools have age requirements? No. There are stories about old people becoming doctors.

Ah, so much hostility...

question… what are the top majors within SEAS and the university OVERALL (seas and cc, gs too)?

[Columbia University Statistical Abstract | Student Data](http://www.columbia.edu/cu/opir/abstract/students.html)

do a bloody search, this question has been answered.

snarkyhead

;)

top seas majors:
I’m pretty sure more than 1/3 of the school is IEOR
and about another third is BME
and then the rest.

i think over 1/3 is a stretch…but since ieor and am are basically the only joke majors in seas, it does make sense that so many do ieor. there are lots of dumb people…

^^Only true in 04-05

http://www.columbia.edu/cu/opir/abstract/en%20undergraduate%20degrees%20by%20program%20of%20study%202007-2008.htm</a></p>

in 07-08 IEOR barely made up the pool of majors.

For SEAS, IEOR & BME seem to be quite popular, at least amongst the underclassmen still trying to figure out what to do.
