Hi there! I was recently accepted into Columbia’s Class of 2019, and I feel like I could add my two cents.
Your grades and statistics are absolutely amazing, like I’m jealous, and your variety of extracurriculars is really fabulous too. I especially love all of the work you do to help further your community (it’ll really resonate with Columbia’s mission). But all the of activities seem fairly normal, and there isn’t really a central theme around your application.
My theme for example, was engineering entrepreneurship, since I’ve attended multiple engineering programs and launched a start-up, and I think that making sure that theme was really present was what got my application through to that final stage.
Nonetheless, the work you have done is absolutely amazing, and I think you’ll have a good shot, especially with those letters of recommendation. However, getting into Columbia is a lot of luck and hard for even the best students, so I would say about three times the current acceptance rate: about 20%.
Hope I helped!
