@Kd6410 I agree with the poster above, a 700 in each section is totally fine! Also, @multianshul, I think you should be ok as well. 1400 isn’t a concrete cutoff, and the process is holistic, so if your essays work/have good ECs/letters of rec/etc., you’ll be fine! I got a 720 RW and a 780 M. I’m mostly worried about my subject tests…
I’m also nervous about my SATs because I don’t go to an anglophone school (I scored lower than 700 on each section) but the admissions officer told me that over 650 is fine for non american school students, and I am in that range. I only submitted one subject test though (spanish). Is that going to disadvantage me? Did you all submit multiple?
Honestly, I didn’t even submit any. Subject tests are apparently optional on the app. Even if you do submit just one (given you have a good score), it should work to your advantage.
Yeah, subjects tests are optional - I submitted my 740 for US History
That said, it is a competitive program, and people will probably submit optional tests - so I can’t truly tell how it can affect you. What I can say for sure is that subject tests only help—nothing works against you. The more, the better, but if you don’t have “enough”, you won’t be negatively affected.
Does anyone who attended the online info session remember when Patrick Martinez said the interview decisions will be released? I thought it was on Feb. 1 but the website says by Feb 15
@Kd6410 I just checked my notes from an info session I attended this summer, and it says mid February, so probably the 15th. I checked last year’s thread and they got interview invitations the 11th though!! The year before that, it was the 9th, so I think it’ll be any time between the 9th and the 15th
@en2900 Thanks for the info! I’m so nervous…
My portal updated today with 3 recommendations? I have no idea what those could be - did this happen to anyone else?
@Kd6410 What does it say about the 3 recommendations? that they have been received? That you need them? How did you know to check your portal?
@grandscheme It is under the Application Checklist and just says “Recommendation” with today’s date on it. This is listed three times. The teacher recommendations say the name of the teacher and the school. I didn’t get any notification to check my portal I just check it every other day. Instead of a green check mark, it has the same symbol that the submitted essays have
@Kd641 It sounds like recommendations just got to there and are being noted as received.
@grandscheme I don’t think so because the teacher recs are already listed with their specific names on them, whereas these just say “recommendation” - also the teacher recs were done electronically. If they weren’t sent electronically they would not be input on the same day as one teacher did his a month before the other. And there would only be 2 instead of 3 since there are only 2 LOR’s from teachers - I’m curious as to what is it, I might call GS but not sure yet. There’s something else wrong with my portal as well. It says my SAT scores were received 1/9/2018 but they were sent and received well before that.
@Kd6410 Its hard to second guess esp when we want oddities to mean something. Keep us posted~
@grandscheme Okay so I called and one of them is a duplicate. The other two are not and GS says they can’t tell me what they say or who they’re from but they do belong in my file.
@Kd6410 confusing but better that they do belong in your file and we like LORs!
Hey everyone! This might seem a little too early to ask, but how are you guys preparing for the interview? I don’t know if I’ll even get to that point, but I’d rather start prepping early, just in case
Hi everyone! I’m an American high schooler from Chicago. I applied to the Reims campus. I’m in love with this program! When I applied in December I read through this feed and the 2017 one numerous times, but I’m just joining now so I could join in the discussion about preparing for the interviews (granted that I get one, haha). Anyway, I’m not sure exactly how to prepare–I’m reading a lot of global news, but especially French and American news because of the Reims campus’s international focus. What are other good ways to prep?
To prepare for the interview (god willing I get one) I’ve been picking a certain current event - for example Brexit - and then taking notes about it from various articles
Hi, guys! I’m a Chinese public high schooler applying for Transatlantic Program! The program is my top choice since my friend told me about it. (She studies in Le Havre and really likes it there!)
Are there any current intl students:
I wonder how challenging the program is if its region of focus differs than one’s own country?
Which is prioritized for intl students, SATs or TOEFL?
Kinda worried about my SATI, but my TOEFL(110+) and SATII(800, 770) should be fine, I guess. And a former Columbia professor wrote a recommendation letter for me.
I’ve been reading economists and news and studying APUSH these days. Hope I can get an interview. Good luck everyone!
