@nicolasy No phone call, no interview, no letter, from France also… What do you think ? I’m afraid it means we’re not in but until they tell me so, I can’t help but having a little hope. Did you get anything today ?

@Cfourr: Camille, c’est toi ?!

Still waiting, but I’m kind of giving up…
From France, no interview or phone call !

I didn’t receive anything today (no mail, it’s a holiday…) Guess I’ll have something tomorrow. But frankly, I think I won’t get in. But of course, until I have the letter in front of my eyes, I’ll keep my fingers crossed. I think they only accepted students with extremely strong academics, which is not my case (even though I’m in the top 15% of my class). I’ve been hoping for several months that my essays and letters of recommendations would save me… Apparently they haven’t.

Anyway, congratulations once more to all of you guys who were accepted; hope this program will take you where you want. Thanks @whackadoodle, congratulate your daughter for me!

cfourr, lpoupon, I’ll let you know if I have something tomorrow. Just out of curiosity, is there any french person who was accepted so far (except for thesorrow)?

Well I don’t know for all the French candidates but I have a friend who got interviewed and still hasn’t received anything… Actually, the delay to receive a letter sent from US seems normal (apparently they were sent on tuesday, 6 days don’t seem thaaat long !), the suspense is just unsustainable…
Like you Nicolasy, I stil hope it could work on an administrative mistake haha but I think if we did get in, we’d already know somehow (phone call, mail notification…)

Congrats for those who got in, you deserve it and I think you’re really gonna enjoy this program :)

Now I know. Rejected. Wish you all all the best.
N.

Same for me !

I don’t think they only chose people with extremely strong academics, I believe the first motivation essay played a great part in the selection. Especially when you know Columbia is, basically, a college for students who had special experiences and stuff.

I’m not saying you had to save the world to get in, though x) seems like a majority of accepted students are American, but it’s not a surprise. Does someone has an idea or a supposition about the selection ?

Hello,
I generally just read what everybody is saying, but since everyone is so intent on knowing if any french students were accepted, I thought I’d drop in. I’m a french student from an international school and have been accepted last monday (by phone) to the reims campus. I had an interview in late february. I know another person in the exact same case (french, same school, same campus, interview).
Congrats to all those accepted and sorry to those who got a rejection! I do feel that the way they make us wait without knowing is quite stressful!

Wow, so many people from international schools have been accepted.

@Nicolasy LPOUPON, sorry for hearing about that, I know your feeling. My son was pooled by Cambridge in January and was waiting for the call for 10 days before receiving the rejection letter. I hope you get good offers from other colleges and wish you all the best!

@thesorrow, yes, I think the essays as well as international background/interest are very important, my son was in other country for many years and is attending an international school right now. However, I do not think the majority of accepted students are American. Because CC is a forum for US college application, so you can find few Dual BA candidates from other counties. See, Chocodev just made his/her first post.

@Chocodev, congratulations!

Did not end up being accepted
I’m now deliberating between the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, UK, and the George Washington University in DC. Congratulations to everyone who made the cut, I’m sure it will be a wonderful experience!

I still haven’t gotten a letter… anyone else?

My son, international studdent, got a rejection from Dual Degree but today was invited for an interview by Sciecnes Po via e mail. He chose to wish to be considred by Sciences Po if not accepted by the Dual Degree program. Did anyone got the e mail?

I am SOOOOO STOKED to see this program. Oh my god, forgive my over-exuberance, but this programs sounds absolutely dreamy. I mean I get to go study at this prestigious Political Science Univ. in Paris for the 1st half of the program and get a degree from that. AND THEN> I get to come to Manhattan and finish yet ANOTHER degree at Columbia Univ.!!!??!! This sounds too good to be true. For a pre-law focused student myself-this seems wonderfully fitting. It could be a hell of a prep for an international law specialization. This has quickly become my favorite program I’ve seen offered and I would give my arm to have this opportunity.

The issue is, I am a 25 yr old non-traditional student with only my 2nd semester of Community College just completed. I do have a 3.893 GPA and am in Honors Courses Designation, Phi Theta Kappa, I founded a local soup kitchen(filing for 501c3 status non-profit to garner resources and funds currently). I also want to take my LSATS soon–just to show I can get a 170+(Which I frequently get on old, practice tests). Anyone with help with regard to how I should go about navigating the best course of action to approach and get accepted into this program!!! Thanks

This seems like an old thread but I was looking for information on the dual degree program and had trouble finding things like stats, admission rate, class size, etc. I guess that’s because it’s a small program? Can anyone help me out based on what they know?

Hey ky123212,
I’m a tourguide for the Dual degree at Columbia and a current student. There are actaully very few stats on the program because it is so new and still growing. I know that in the past years the number of admitted students has increased to about 65 and if I remember correctly there were about 300- 350 applications last year. Out of the students who were offered admission 47 choose to accept the offer to start this fall.
Sorry I cannot give you anymore concrete information. If you have more questions you should contact the admissions office. They will be happy to help. spo-dualba@columbia.edu
Good Luck!

@ mkgoggins: Hey its me again the current student and tourguide for the program. I wanted to also reply to your post because your situation seems quite special. The Dual BA has accepted non traditional students before and particularly Columbia is very strong when it comes to helping them out. It is probably best if you contact the Office of Admissions and explain your particular situation to them. spo-dualba@columbia.edu
Also if you have any more questions I’d always be happy to try to answer them. But the Office of admissions should be able to give you answers.
Best of Luck!
