which one is more famours and has a better program?

Penn SEAS > Fu Foundation - IMHO

The programs are similar in general, though Penn does have three top 10 programs (BE, MSE, DMD) while Columbia doesn't really have any amazing specific departments. Also, the students are a bit different: Penn engineers usually have an interest in business, while Columbia engineers usually have an interest in the liberal arts.

i dunno if you have to do that awful core curriculum if you're an engineer at Columbia, but if you do, I would definitely avoid columbia SEAS.

Giggity,

Penn's MSE isn't top-10. I think you mixed it up with Penn State's program. DMD isn't really an engineering program and I don't know if there's a ranking for that field.

Penn's MSE is top 10. I'm not going to even argue with that.

That Penn State comment looks dangerously close to being that of a troll.

DMD, which is digital media design, is a form of computer engineering mixed with fine arts, and since Penn is one of the only schools that even offers this, of course it's top in the field.

Material Science & Engineering 2006 ranking (ranked in 2005):

Oh I'm sorry about that. I was under the impression that you consistently believed USNWR rankings were severely flawed, and could not be taken seriously. But if this is indeed not the case as you have demonstrated in your previous post, then Penn is indeed #4 overall, and superior to Stanford and MIT.

I personally don't give a damn about the rankings. When I say Penn's MSE is top 10, what I mean to say is that it is top 10 caliber, not some physical spot on an arbitrary ranking list. But then again, if you want to argue about semantics, it was indeed #10 a short time ago, and shifting a few spots up or down doesn't change anything.

Ha ha... Now that was good.
Live by the sword, die by the sword...

Fu Foundation's BME program is pretty good.

Giggity,

When I criticized US News undergrad ranking, I didn't say I had problem with "peer assessment" score, did I? The departmental rankings are based on peer assessment ONLY. I've been consistent all along.

Anyway, all I did was posting the most recent MSE ranking (based on peer assessment score), it's up to the OP to decide. Please don't take it so personally.
