Columbia Send-0ffs 2013

we received an email about these a few weeks ago.

what are these? what do you do at these?

has anyone attended any? is anyone thinking of attending any upcoming ones?

I think the original email sent early this month explains it pretty well:

I think it’s basically an informal reception hosted by an alum in your area for you to meet other Columbians and alumni from your area. But I’m interested in knowing if others have gone before and what their experiences were.

You shake hands and make small talk with people you’ve never met before and may never see again (or may not remember meeting to the extent you see them again), snack on free food, down some free booze, etc. Basically any other reception.

Right. worth going for the free food (they probably won’t serve 18-year-olds booze).

It’ll also give you a leg up meeting some friends in your new class. which is something you’ll find valuable very shortly. I recommend going if it’s not an immense inconvenience.
