so is it true.. does COlumbia send likely letters?

Oh gosh I hope they don't send likely letters. If getting a rejection letter on Dec 15th is bad, getting a "likely" letter then getting rejected is worse.

Also, from what I've heard, likely letters are sent to athletic recruits who have been picked out and flagged early. As in, the school's coaches put in a recommendation and the student's profile was checked by the adcoms to be tolerable.

gosh.. i shoulda been one of those athletic whatevers..

.. anyway what do likely letters mean?
and does columbia send them to people other than athletes?

2 things

1) likely letters are sent out during RD to earn favors with top applicants to make sure they matriculate; no need to worry about matriculation with ED people, so no likely letters during ED

2) during RD, only SEAS sends out likelies, not Columbia College

how sure are you about this yu shi?

very sure, 100% sure,

if you applied ED, they have you in their backpockets. no need to waste time sending out likelies when they can be doing other stuff...like making your ED decisions..
