The law school now at 5th place, Columbia Business School and medical school low top ten. What’s going on ? All this money and no results ? UChicago now ahead of Columbia in business, law and college ranking.
…does this really warrant its own thread? It doesn’t have much to do with UChicago and there’s already several ongoing related conversations in this board.
How do,you create a new non chicago related thread?
You create one on a forum for non-UChicago topics.
Perhaps the [Columbia forum](Columbia University - College Confidential Forums) would be a better choice for a thread about Columbia’s ranking slip.
I’m a UChicago grad and a huge fan of the school, but Columbia is doing fine. I see no need/value to badmouthimg it on this board. It makes us look insecure. Please stop.
@Chrchill Who really cares? If it bothers you, don’t apply to Columbia. But to pretend that Columbia is in trouble is frankly funny.
Rankings are a bit sad. But I’m glad that they make you feel better.
Personal attacks are not helpful. I am a Columbia grad and don’t need your behavioral counsel. Yes, it should have been posted on the Columbia thread. Posted here by error.
@Chrchill I didn’t mean to make a personal attack, but badmouthing is never a good approach. I fully concur with @ThankYouforHelp.
This is not badmouthing. This is a concern based on data. Get real.
@Churchill: As a UChicago alumnus who found my education there absolutely superb, I applaud your enthusiasm for my alma mater. I really do. But if you want to talk about rankings, particularly ones from USNWR, you’d have to mention other rankings where UChicago isn’t doing so hot. Pritzker for example, dropped 4 spots from last year back down to #15. (I honestly don’t know what happened, though I’m guessing its shrinking federal research funding is finally catching up.) Rankings change from year to year. You win some but you lose some. Just my 2 cents!!
I have the utmost respect for Columbia, and I think it’s doing fine. I haven’t seen any red flags there.
UChicago Medical school is indeed remarkably week by comparison to its other graduate programs. Why is that? I am glad you respect Columbia. I do as well. (and give them money as an alum.) That’s why I don’t why them to continue sliding, especially now that Columbia is so invested in its Manhatanville expansion.
