Columbia Slow on FIN. AID APPs?

Have your financial aid apps appeared as "received" on your status pages? I sent in mine 5 weeks ago, but it still hasn't appeared. I want to know that this happens to everyone or just to me. Thanks! :)

Wow, check it again. Maybe you saw the wrong thing. The finaid app comes in several parts. That's a really long time.

I'm sure I looked at the right part. :( Has Columbia got yours?

Actually, they got mine on October 28th. I got in ED.

Congrats for getting in ED!

Another thought just crossed my mind. I sent in the Columbia Financial Aid Application for International Students. If they received it, would they mark in the same section as the Columbia Financial Aid Application? Or would they not bother to put anything up on the status page because there is no section specifically saying Columbia Financial Aid Application for International Students?

Beats me. Sorry. Why don't you try calling them a few weeks after January 3rd if it doesn't show up?

"Why don't you try calling them a few weeks after January 3rd if it doesn't show up?"

ditto.

geniezclone, the CU adcom is receiving a ton of applications right now, especially after ED round is just over. I wouldn't worry that much. But if you still don't see it after a couple of weeks or more, you should call them up because your question gets answered on the spot.

Yah, I did call. Unfortunately, it was Christmas Eve, so no one was there to answer the phone. If I'd only thought of it one day earlier! Now I have to wait till Jan 3. Anyways, thanks, guys! :)

Wait longer. They have a lot to worry about. Call a few weeks AFTER January 3rd. They need to process every applicant's things. If it doesn't show up in mid- or late-January, you can call. You really don't need to worry.

I'd love to. But if I waited longer, then by the time I called, the deadline would have passed. If it turned out that they hadn't received my app, then it would be too late to send in another one.

Everyone, if you read this post,

please don't just click the back button

. Help keep me sane this last week of 2004! Please answer my questions:

[ol]
[li]On the application status page, where the required documents (such as part two, essay, secondary school report, transcript, etc.) are displayed, what does your Financial Aid Status say?
[/li]

[li]Have you submitted your application for admission and ticked the "I'll apply for financial aid" box?
[/li]

[li]Have you submitted your fin aid application?[/li][/ol]
Mine said "Applied for Fin Aid," but I'm not sure whether that means that they've received my fin aid app or that I've simply ticked "I'll apply for financial aid" on my application for admission.

Thank you so much!

It means they have your checked box. You have to go to the finaid status page, where the documents received are shown.
